Ambient temp sensor

Pretty random question here!!! Does anyone know how the temperature sender for the outside temperature on a digi display in corsa works? Is it a thermocouple device? Basically i need to know for my 3rd year physics project. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams or anything of its internal workings?
