na didnt chop dowm me bumpstops, well it seems as if every lowered nova has the same harsh ride, it appears the only time i get a smooth ride is on the motorway!
cheers for the feedback.
you've found a motorway thats smooth!!!! Where? :O :p
I've just had mine lowered 60mm, it's not setteled yet, but fortunatley I hada 30mm drop before so I know what the ride was already like. One of those things, you loose out on comfort for better cornering. You'll soon get use to it.

Alright then - I have currently got a 1.2 Nova merit on standard shocks and springs. I think that the ride at the mo is just too soft (seems to roll loads around corners)...... and just need to know HOW harsh the ride will be with -60mm suspension kit. Is there a lot of difference in the ride between a -40mm and -60mm kits? Is it drivable, or is it gonna be a real teeth rattler?

My car is lowered 40mm with Jamex springs and Boge shocks, and the ride is fucking appauling (sp?) It's rock solid and you feel every bump - most of the time i will come flying out of the seat.
I've a 1.2 merit (J plate) just put full set 60mm springs n dampers GMAX Supersport on it. Can be a little bumpy but 1/2 the fun - keeps yer stomach muscles tight! (previously driving around on suspension like jelly). Corners like its on rails and looks much better. 40mm is low but 60mm is slammed!

oh now, that is interesting!

Make sure you cut yer bump stops back (I had to lob 20mm off mine) otherwise you'll be riding a bone shaker n knacker yer shocks after a while!

My 2ltr is lowered 60mm on 205/40's and i drove it properly for the first time in ages last night and its rock hard. I had forgot how impractical it was to drive it as when i sit at traffic lights in it the stearing wheels vibrates! lol Rick
Back for running in soon!

I've got Pi -60 springs on my GTE with the standard shocks and 15's with 45-profile tyres and the ride is mint.....a bit harsh on really rough stuff (of which there is a lot in Sheffield!) but on most roads it's fine. If anything though, it's under-damped.....I definitely need up-rated shocks at some point.
On my Antibes, I had Puma -40 springs (although it sat 60mm lower....must have sold me the -60 kit by mistake :D) with standard shocks, and that was mint too.....
To be honest though, my GTE had a harsh ride with the standard springs anyway which are up-rated over lower-spec models....fitting the lowering springs didn't make much difference other than making it lower (obviously)
Actually......just fitting NEW standard springs can make a massive difference to the ride.
I remember buying brand new standard springs for my old A-reg 1.2L.......they were rock-solid and it handled like a go-cart.
What you have to remember is that most novas will be running springs which are way past their best so the ride will be soft and soggy. If you have mint standard springs and lower it, the difference will be less noticeable.
