Turbo sport in Bedfordshire will make you some rods, as he mainly deals with xe's and cossy YB's. They are rated to 10,000 rpm and apparently do the job very well, They are apparently also a lot less than the Farndon or Arrow equivalent.

I'll try and find the link

Baines Race Engineering is the company just not sure is web address

TBH if your getting steel rods there is only one company that makes them that is really worth thinking about. The might be more than other companys but they are the best, i have just ordered some for my turbo engine, along with a load of other bits.

I agree with Rik, if your building a serious engine then you should really not be afraid of spending allittle more than you expected if you have too,

the guys rods are good un deniably but Arrow or Farndon are certainly well proven in the motorsport world

Dont get me wrong if i have to pay the price i'll pay it but i was just wondering if there was anywhere that did them at discount, i'll just keep trying ebay.

-Nick i'm building a phase 5 eds kit which regal say comes out at 480bhp.

doesn't it get to a point where the power is just way too much for a fwd car? is there an optimum level for grip etc. I can imagine with 480bhp, you would be spinning the wheels all the time or if you have traction control, then you wont be taking full advantage of the power.

Or are you planning on running 12" wide slicks on the front for quarter mile runs?

they mint if you get them set right mate! well as good as anything for the money i would say.

apparently 230bhp according to jeremy clarkson is optimum, thats what a saab designer told him

i think the only way to get anywhere near 480bhp is somewhere along the lines of ricks spec with autronic management and large garret turbo etc

not sure on the EDS phase 5 but a KKK16 hybrid isnt going to get you 480bhp...

i'm going to be using either a T28 or T4, the same as the cav turbo has in the pics earlyer this month. EDS tested a phase 5 in there nova and it only had 2 runs at santa pod and managed 12.2 with road tyres and a diff, no traction control or slicks. i'm going to using around 9" wide slicks but i'm not just doing it for 1/4 mile i'm going to be doimg te 1.25 mile runs at elvington this year!
