ok folks any ideas, after recently dropping my 1600 gsi engine into my saloon on twin 40's I went to turn it over - turned over first time but then I realised I had no fuel pump (slight problem) doh!

anyhow - finally get my fuel pump wired in etc and decide to replace the coil and dizzy for a setup that I knew worked from my old 1400 sr, I flick the switch for fuel pump - this is working fine, go to turn the engine over and ........... nothing not even a clicking noise! whats wrong - does the starter motor earth through the coil? have i missed a connection, im gettin really stressed out now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

the starter motor earths of the car body, make sure all your earths are connect properly and not loose

jump lead the block to battery neg for quick diagnosis

if it starts with jumplead its earthstrap related

if it doesnt its solenoid related - try shorting the 2 connectors on the solenoid (big and small) with a heavy screwdriver or similar

yeah Aragorn is right - i have a facet fuel pump - the switch is so i can turn on the ignition without the fuel pump running etc.
