View Full Version : SRi head on a SR block

I know that the SE pictons are different to the SR(NV/NZ not sure. lol) ones.

I think that by using the sri head it lowers the compression slightly.

What should I do to the SRi head to get the most out of my 1400?

How much should I have skimmed off of it?

My engineer said he would take it right down to the spark plugs for me, but I then thought about reliability, and whether the lift on my 285 cam would be too much for it.

So basically what I want to do is make it reliable, but get a bit more power out of the head.

Any information appreciated

Cheers

ideally you'd want to measure the combustion chamber volume accurately and calculate the real static compression ratio

then skim to attain a specific ratio, somewhere around 10-10.5 is about the most i'd suggest unless u wanna use super-unleaded fuel all the time (remember that although modern engines are around 10.5 and can run perfectly fine on 95 octane fuel they have knock sensors to detect pinking if u get a shit batch of fuel and will adjust the timing accordingly, your engine wont have that)

Skimmed to around the top of the spark plug appatures (sp.)
