I took my car to Novatech yesterday to have a tune up. I found out the reason why i'm only getting 150 miles to a full tank out of my car. the air flow meter is fucked and its running at 3% instead of 1%.

I managed to get a rolling road figure while I was there. Iv'e never had it on the RR since i fitted the 2.0l.

the set up is 2.l 8v cavalier CD engine with K&N. No other engine mods. It read 114 BHP @ the wheels which is about 130ish at the flywheel.

not bad for a standard 8v engine.

yup breeny speaks the truth, well i thought same anyway lol

Bends were made to rule and rules were made to bend

Nope, Breeny is wrong, 114bhp in a front drive motor will be about 130bhp at fly, its about 20% loss not 20bhp. 25 to 30% for rear drive and as high as 35 to 40% in some 4 wheel drives.

HAHAH Breeny is wrong! You hear that Breeny :p

IF it is a 20% loss then it will be down to 104bhp from 130bhp :)

its actually anything between 10 and 20% loss, there is no definitive answer, it totally depends on the gear box and the set up. as a conservative figure, I have calculated mine on a 10% increase from whhels to flywheel.

Well, if Damian got 114 at the wheels then don't you add 20% to get the flywheel power? Which would work out at around 136.8bhp at the flywheel. Either way you have to take BHP readings witha pinch of salt. I had my 1.4 RR 3 times in the space of a year and got 3 different readings at each garage. As long as your happy with the power Damian that's all that matters :)

my 1.4 does 150 miles to the tank. I just take it as the way it has to be.

Mr d0gz..

methinks you got something awry under the bonnet..

150 miles to a full tank? you do realise that you are looking there at about 15mpg?

No matter how hard you drive, i cannot possibly imagine that you could return that mpg on a regular basis!!

Your fuel consumption is in line with the cadillac eldorado that has an 8 litre v8, 440 magnum v8, dodge vipers etc..
