HELP PLEASE 1.0 NOVA

My car losses power big time usually when i go in to 4th gear its really bad also the stearing is all over the place when i break and reach above 55mph any idear. Also slowwing down and stopping i am getting all the lights on like its going to stall on me
new alternator fitted 3 weeks ago along with fan belt
any help will be greatley appricates :D

If the steering goes all over the place at high speeds your tracking could be out, get a tyre place to have a look. If the wheel shudders when your braking, then its most likely your disks are warped..

Yep, as Dan said sounds like tracking or brakes. Also might be worth checking dampers; my hatch was like that until we changed the suspension.

your wheels might not be balanced either.

as for losing power in 4th, just accept it.

the small capacity engines dont generate the torque to give the car "responsive" driving in the high gears.

cheers for all your comments, i had the tracking done about 5 weeks ago when i had my alloys fitted but as for the one loosing power in fourth never did it before believe it or not i can quite happily get 95mph out of it in fourth, :D
anyways its in the garage tomorow morning so will know more then

prolly 85ish tbh

they only get bad after 80 or so

i had a std 1.2i indicating 105mph at 5krpm and it was only doing 90

i had the same car showing 125 at 5600rpm about 30mins later and that was actually only 105mph (it did take that whole 30mins and a nice hill to get there tho :P)

bigger wheels will slow you down also as it is effectivley making it lower geared.

just to update you all the front breaks needed replacing and its now had a full service runs like a dream well as well as a 1.0 can lol
