View Full Version : stripped rear or not on my 1.4 SR?
iv already stripped the rear of every thing just to paint the floor.
but i dont know if i should put interior back in.
i wont have any were to put my 6x9's though. i'v just made some side 1/4 cards too put them in but i just carnt make up my mind.
what ya recon then?
cheers, lew
well no point in asking me, you know what the answer will be.
i would say keep it in.
your going to be going out in the car with your mates so keep it.
only when you want the car to be all out fast, then strip it.

iv got a 1300 and its been technically striped
Side qtrs can look ok even without the seats in place. But as sean said, if you're gonna be carting mates around and don't mind rear passengers then put it all back in.
thats the thing i dont think i would let people sit in the back cause it makes the car go really slow and sluggish!
but me and my brother went out in it the other night with the stripped rear and it was well quick and loud!
but now im thinking of putting the seats in but with no cards and no carpet in the rear, will it still be loud?
Well it'll be louder with seats only rather than full rear interior.... but the seats themselves (being foam) act as sound deadening material, so yes - it'll be quieter than not having anything. As to how much though, your best bet is to just try it, seats are easy to get in and out.

im abit of a pr*ck and as i see it, its me and my misses! or me and a mate. if i wanted a taxi i would have one. im not a taxi so i got rid of my back seats! it stops people asking for lifts and will be handy for a boot install! but then again i prefere it that way. if you wana give mates a lift every where then go for it but thats not for me!
p.s. i aint really a pr*ck i just wanted a boot install!!! but the taxi thing does make sence!
yer f**k it there coming BACK out, i'll buy harnesses so i can put my 6x9's in my new 1/4 cards i just made and just tell people the can walk.
plus im going for the rally look on the outside any way so it makes sence to have a stripped iterior!
parts of my rear seat is burt from when i caught on fire so i looks dodgy any way.
well thats that sorted.
cheers

Yeah I stripped mine, & I found its alot louder & also the rear beam is alot more unstable with there being less weight but is much more fun & surprisingly faster! Take all the rear seat belts out too, As they will look stupid left in, Also get harnesses! & Take the front seatbelts out too.
well you went out in my car the other week, so you know the score with stripping the rear out and harness's.
i've lost all my carpet now and the passenger seat too. it goes even quicker now.

Its not loud in my car at the moment, I know it would be louder but in terms of weight is the carpet quite heavy?

the carpets aint that heavy but like it says in the asda adverts, every little helps!!! i totaly striped my car for one day, only had half a dash 2 bucket seats, a steering wheel and gear knob. every thing else was gone! was f**king awsome. got a 1.2i over 100mph. almost to 115mph. i nearly died of shock!!! was the best thing! if your guna strip it, go all the way. spare wheel rear wiper door cards carpets seats + belts, dash...every thing. then go on a late night drive. if possible find out when the police change shift, as they aint guna be around as much!

Yeah, Ive only left the front bucket seats harnesses, Full dashboard-I need that! No spare wheel, No rear wiper anyway. Rear carpet may go. Not convinced yet.

maybe but hey, try it and see how much faster you can go.
glad you like the stripped idea. it is the way forward! well forward faster any way!
the rear dont look too pretty stripped, but if you wanted pretty then you wouldnt have a nova hehe just kidding!
if you really wana go all the way you could always start cutting out or filling the metal in the door cards and the boot door. just cut or thin the metal to get that extra little bit of weight off. but dont go too over the top or you could ruin the structure of the car. also think of a roll cage. may be weighty but is important for any one traveling at speed.
what about a carbon bonnet? i dont know if any one makes them, but hey will cut weight alot.
yer i was thinking of getting just a rear cage and i want to get a fibre glass boonet and make it removeable by bonnet pins in each corner.

post a pic
dont get a fiberglass bonnet, get a carbon fiber one. it will cut off so much weight!!!
also dont just get a rear cage if your going for all out speed! remember to play safe. get a full cage. its alot safer! but then again you may not be going for a track/rally style racer. im guessing you also use the car for every day use. so dont make it too impracticle. i did and really enjoyed it. but learnt from my mistake. went too stripped and wasnt practicle.
if you do want loads of speed try replacing some parts with carbon fiber, eg front wings, bonnet bucket seats etc.
yer it will be my every day car so its got to be practicle. iv left the carpet in the front in, and iv just made custom rear cards to put my speakers in,
but im still trying to go for the rally style, but i think your right i'll go for a full 6point cage.

if you got alloys and wana be abit flash, change your spare wheel for a spare alloy. that way if something does go wrong, you got a back up.
what are you going to use the car for? shopping? moving loads of stuff? beware that a 6point cage will have a X brace in all likely hood, and will limit the boot space. then again its not that limited as you aint got back seats any more. just something to think about.
my car will just be an every day car but if i get a 6point cage i know that i'll be safe if i ever roll or crash it or what ever.
