Hi there, ive got a 1988 E reg Escort Rs Turbo, ive been having a bit of a problem, normally i put my key in the imobilizer, then i put my other key in the ignition and turn it and hear a noise, i think it is the fuel pump! well anyways i cant hear that noise anymore and cant start my car, the petrol reading doesnt go up either, so im pretty sure its something to do with fuel, i know there's petrol in, just under half a tank cause i never let my car run dry, any idea's of this probel or should i just take it to a garage ?
Ive been told it might be the relay but it has been checked and seem's fine.
thanks

It sounds like the relay or the fuel pump itself/connection to me.

ford intank pumps and level sensors are "integral"

ie they are one unit, either the wires have come off the connector or the unit is fecked.

should be cheap and easy to replace.

on the fuel pump underneeth the car the connector was rotten and had flaked away, all sorted now
