I know a lot of people use their novas for everyday use as it serves as a package for them.

But, if you were to just use the nova for say motorsport purposes what would your everyday car and why?

Whatever you can afford.

Bought the Bmw for a reliable everyday runaround car.. but I can't stop spending money on it now lol Inlcuding repairing the fappin thing.

I'd buy a car that you won't be tempted to do anything with, very cheap to run..

306TD or something similar..

Looking at 1700 Corsa Diesels and Cav diesels too.

It's just somthing that will tempt the car theift and its cheap, reliable and efficent to drive.

Don't want to touch a ford tho.

Was looking at bimmers but, its pointless Insurance is far too high and there getting old.

Just having a quick look at Escort Diesels at the moment, they are priced around ?500 ish. . .

Corsa TD's are priced around ?800
Astra TD's are about the same

My everyday car is a 306 GTI-6. I had the car before I even thought of a Nova.

I got the car because I wanted a fast resonably fast car and it had a 6 speed box. Which is cool.

However now I have built the Nova it makes the 306 feel slow. But its still a nice everyday car.

i bought a rover 620 gsldi off me dad for ?500 p reg its got 230000 miles on and still gets mid to high 50's to the gallon , only niggle is the drivers window is temperamental but for ?500 who cares - it means my nova is tucked away in the crap weather

My everyday car is a 306 GTI-6.
My pug-loving friend has a 6 as his everyday car. Not a bad motor, although he's totalled the engine twice (owned it about 3 months, and has run up a repair bill of over ?3500!) and it eats petrol.

I like my GT-Four as an everyday car... its economical when driven with care (I've estimated around 30mpg at times), is very comfortable to drive, but has plenty of poke when needed.

If costs were an issue though, I'd go for a 306 dturbo. Cheap to buy, and only about group 5 insurance!

Here's mine:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/cornidh/Dscf0570.jpg

Paid next to nothing for it, and haven't had a single problem with it. It's done 180,000 miles but burns no oil and always starts first time, what more can you ask for!?

I had a renault 5 gt turbo, That was a great car despite everyone saying the head gasket goes all the time etc & the turbo etc, Had mine for 9 months, No problems ever! & I abused that car.
As long as you let em warm up & cool down before switching off, they're cool. It had 155,000 miles!
And cheap on fuel!

I had a Renault 5 GT turbo as an every day car as well and had very few problems with it but it used to drink petrol for fun. Sold it and my everyday car now is a 2.0 16v yellow Nova SR that stands me at ?600 including the car.

I drive a 1995 Corsa 1.4 SRI for everyday.
Plan was to leave it standard. That lasted about a week!! Had to lower it, add some 16's and a exhaust. As you do!!

My plan was to leave it standard too, paid ?325 for it but then the 1.6 that was in it blew the headgasket and the clutch went so thought it was rude not to stick a valver in it really.

I use an Opel Calibra xe as my everyday car, full heated leather etc. It's pure luxuary and has power when you need it. I avarage 37mpg, which is not bad.

Cheers,
Mick

I am currently looking for a black Audi A4 with the 1.9td engine as my everyday car. Will be selling the hova when i get one as i cannot spend any more money on it.

Will want to get another one down the line as a weekend car, but i have other things to save for right now (a reliable car, a house etc etc)

Rexy
10-02-05, 02:50 PM
lol, house... I dont want a house at present. Quite happy to rent a one bed flat for now.

But, I can see your point.

Think i'll keep an eye on the escort Diesel scene tbh, they seem really cheap.

Alex
10-02-05, 02:53 PM
lol buy house i mean maybe buy a 2 bedroom flat or a small house.

Want a diesel as i do 70miles at least per day. A4s are reliable and comfortable. Doing that mileage in a nova is not lol.

It's also not the greatest image to portray, me in a full suit and jacket driving to work in a "done up" nova lol.

Thats another reason why i want something a little more sensible...

I got some dodgy looks yeaterday while in shirt and tie on my way to an interview. But, strangly a guy in a bright yellow golf mk3 gave me the thumbs up and nodded. . .

V.random lol.

I don't think the funny looks were all because of the Nova...

10-02-05, 03:39 PM
it wasnt a formal interveiw . so didnt have to wear a suit / shirt or anything ,,, it was just meeting the other members .. the job sounded shite anyway so dint bother attending the reall interveiw .. jeans and my top was prob worth more than there cheap george suits anyway :D

Alex
10-02-05, 03:41 PM
thats not the point though is it? Jeans are not business atire. We turned away a company who we may have outsourced to becasue he came in in (late) wearing jeans etc. Not the best image or first impression

Rexy
10-02-05, 03:42 PM
But the cheap George Suits would of given good first impression lol... not that it mattered, as u didnt want to go for the job.

And nowt worng with george stuff . . . Esp when ur skint lol

raza
10-02-05, 03:43 PM

when employers say casual they mean very smart casual. Anyway you don't want a sales person job, they are all commision based are are pants
