What sort of gains is there to be had from putting a 1.2 head on a 1400 bottom end?

putting the 1.2head on the 1.4 bottom end will increase the compression ratio, giving you a few bhp extra, it won't be much, but it'l be noticeable.

To get more out of it, you'l need to get some headwork done (porting and polishing, maybe even larger valves cutt in)

An alternative is to use a 1.4 SRi head, as this has even better shaped ports than the 1.2 and has larger valves too.

If its a single carb 1400 Sr eg not Twin carbs, then you wont be able to fit the manifold back on to the 1200 head as the port shapes are different. You will prob need to get a new manifold or maybe even a webber 32/34 carb.

Im not clued up on the 32/34 carbs but afew guys on here are so they should help.

if you put a 1200 head on a 1400 block and then use the 1300 inlet for the pierburg then that should see you about 3-5bhp more as long as you keep the 1.4 cam and not the 1.2 one.
