sr gearbox

Hi im going to get myself a nova sr mk2 1.4 and go all the way on the engine t40's cam 1.3 head yeh ok so i was wondering is the 1.3 gearbox and the 1.4 gearbox the same ratio coz i knw there both f10's bt want to knw which is best to use? thx

yes both gearboxes on the SR's were the same

teh but is there a different ratio on the two gearboxs

I think some of them will have two or more different final drive ratios.

I deffo took a 4.18 out a 1400sr box. But these are not ment to be to common in these boxes.

The other is probably a 3.74 or 3.94.

wat about a 1.2 gearbox or are they the same? And are the up for the strain?

well my 1400 sr mk2 had a f10 C/R 3.94

the 1300 sr 's had a W/R 4.18

1.2 is only 4 speed AFAIK

the 1.2 nova does have a 5-speed box e.g lux flair n sum other..not sure of the final ration tho on these boxes

my 1989 1.2 (Merit?) had an F10 5-speed with 3.94FD.

ivecomeacross this problem about gearboxes bein 5 speed and some 4.ive checked a lot of f10 gearboxes and they seem to be 5 speed,so i checked the gearstick leaver and theres a difference between a gte/gsi and 1ltr/some 1.2ltrs.theres an extra bit of plastic on the slide on the gearstick rite at the bottom.[take off the rubber cover and have a look].theres an extra bit wich wen broken off allowed me to have 5th gear.the extra bit is on the right side. i could be wrong but its worked for me

the selectors ALL have 5 gears indicated as they are the same selectors on 4 and 5 speed boxes - most 1.2's had 4 speed but the higher spec ones will have had 5 speed ones
