View Full Version : Gearbox for XE
I know the common gear box that is used is the F20 box, but I wondered if there were any other options?
I don't want to run the F28, due to extra weight / cost, and I only want a 5 speed so that it is geared for better acceleration (spelling?).
Someone mentioned the F16 box?
Which would be better for 0-60?
Rob.

the cav diesel box can be used, i think its the f18 ( not too sure on that though) this has quite long ratios longer than the f20.
the f16 cr box is good for aceeleration and still has a top speed of about 125

The F18 gearbox was used on 1.8 and 2.0 Ecotec's. I think they will fit although you will need to change the flywheel and clutch (and I have one for sale ?40)

So which would be the best for 0-60; the f16 cr (which I assume means close ratio), the f18 or the f20?

you want the f16cr, make sure you get this and not the f16wr.

for quicker 0-60 would it not be better with the F20? I went up against a similar spec to mine last year at York Dragway, she was running F16, me on the F20, I had a quicker time but she had a quicker terminal speed
