Well, I picked up an XE engine out of a 1990 Cav GSI from down south last weekend, and have been working on it this last week.

Considering I paid ?110 for it, it seems pretty damn good!

Just got to decide on throttle bodies or carbs now.

(Am rebuilding the engine, and if anyone knows of any contacts for boring out the block, or if anyone has done this, please let me know!!!)

When I first got the lump home:

Nearly all stripped down:

De-greasing the block:

Clean as a daisy!!!:

Mr Muscle conquers all!:

(I spent about ?10 on two tins of "Car De-greaser", that did next to nothing, when my Mum suggested some Mr Muscle Oven cleaner; and it worked a charm! Well done Mr Muscle, you DO love the jobs I hate!)

I think you'l find that porn is not allowed in the forums. But i suppose if you choose to call that porn is up to you. I prefer to call it 'the most horribly repulsive fucking thing i have ever seen'.

Nice engine by the by. I think i'll try some Mr.Muscle on my block.

Isnt Mr Muscle a bit dogjy? Specially oven cleaner? Wont it pit the matting surface?

Although having said that, i put the head and cam off a gsi through my mams dish washer and that came out a treat with no damage.

Not to sound dumb, but what is the matting surface?

Is it the top, where the head mounts?

i was thinking that

surely the Mr.Muscle will leave some residue that wil be burn't/impeed it's running ? when rebuilt.

after all it's just like shoving mr.muscle through your carb/injection.

Ye, where the head gasket goes, if the oven cleaner reacts with the metal it will leave pits in the surface. Would be interesting to see what experience people have had with it.

Like i said earlier, i put my throttle housing, fuel rail, inlet manifold etc through my mam's dishwasher without any problems.

Worked a treat infact, but that doesnt mean to say that I'd recomend it.

mr muscle hasnt erroded my steel sink or the copper pipes in the flat lmao

to be fair engine degreaser and oven cleaner are probably not far off being the same thing. just oven cleaner might smell of lemons lol

good call on that!!!

i mean im gonna try using cola to clean a gearbox housing once ive aquired the right one
