bee-sting aerial = bad radio reception

just installed a bee-sting aerial on the back of my car on the roof. Plugged it all etc but the reception on most stations is crap including Radio1 (not just local stations).

Is this normal for bee-stings or am i missing something?

is it a bee sting, such as a corsa arial? if so there may be a signal amplifier wire which needs a power feed.

sound like uve got a bad earth, u need to sand down the metal where the arial attaches to the underside of the roof.
The ariel grounds itself here and reception will be crap if its not got a good ground.
