Is it a good idea to replace the standard one?
Any manufacturer in particular that is good? (i.e. Diamond, EBC, etc)

Might be adding Nos in 12 months time so i'm pretty sure the standard clutch won't be able to take 180-200bhp will it?

What sorta clutches are you running? (Dan, Jim, CP?)

thanks.

I've been looking into this also, I hear that Helix clutches are the stuff to go for and these black diamond EBC "Sports" clutches are a bit pony

I've also been told the ebc and black diamond clutch's aren't up to much. A decent standard one (sach or luk) clutch kit should apparently handle 135-140bhp okay, but obviously not 180-200bhp lol

The helix organic clutch's are supposed to be very good quality and i would imagine could handle that kind of power. Set you back a fair bit though.

i got a 'fast road' sachs clutch from protec; about ?130. i think al thats 'uprated' about it is the release bearing. i agree though; i think the ebc and black diamonds are a con.

brothers have a helix organic one on theirs, when driving it feels like any other clutch and is more than up to the job on their 130+ engine

i run the helix paddle clutch which has been great, on mine it is very very light and isnt harsh in any way when poodling along in town or slow traffic.

how much did that cost?!!

a Helix Organic Sporting Clutch Kit
(200mm Diameter, 204 Nm max torque)

costs ?250!

How long would the standard clutch last for do you think, when running a similar spec to yours.

Thats one the same as i run, with the cover to match. They are a tad on the steep side for initil purchase but as i recall not to much to get the pads replaced etc. Its ideal for me and my purpose of building and driving the car as built.

I did try one of these uprated jobbies in the beginning but it was either crap or i just killed it before its time, didnt last well tbh, maybe 10-15k tops.

Oh i paid 'around' 300 quid for cover/plate/bearing back when i got it.

a decent organic clutch will handle 150bp easily.

If you plan to drive the car normally, round town e.t.c as well as doing a bit of track racing e.t.c then a paddle clutch will be a bit of an arse when in traffic e.t.c

i've been recommended to buy a Helix organic clutch, as this has been my mission of the week also.
