I was under the impression an rusty bits of metal that are deemed sharp will result in an MOT failure?

I'd be tempted to say yeah, as the rest of the car sills etc could be in a bad way too.

hmm my rear ache before was well rusted and jagged but they past it but had a tiny hole in the sill and it failed depends on where u take it i guess but sharp edges is usually a fail

The rest of the car looks ok (structually.)

Any suggestions for an easy fix, I'm not bothered if it looks s**t as I'll only be driving the car until my GTE's finished.

Duct tape is fine. I had a gash (ahem "vent" lol) on my door that was worse than that - taped over it and passed fine.

duck tape will work to get it though mot, as long as all sharp bits are covered then jobs a goodun. may be worthwhile gettin it sorted for in the long run tho eh!

There is no long run. I would imagine I'll have this car for 1-2months.

just wha ti was goona say. whack all sharp bits with a hammer so they point inwards (or fall of lol) then cover with a layer of gaffer. as long as its not pointy or structural it SHOULD pass i think. dont quote me on that tho....
