View Full Version : blue smoke, and smoke from crank case breather

i know my piston ring/ rings are going/gone as when i acclerate blue smoke comes out the exhaust, then suddenly a puff of smoke came from the bonnent, i lifted it up and when i give it sum gas smoke comes out the crank case breather filter (i have a k &n on my carb) and now the filter is getting all oily and there is oil down th side of the pipe. is this due to th rings going?

im still looking out for a 1.4sr enigne,

is the bottom of a 1.4 corsa/astra the same as the 1.4 blok form a nova?

My 1.6 is doing the same thing mate.i think its caused by blow-back from having worn pistion rings.is your engine not as fast as it was before?

yeh totally, it was 1.4 with 1.2 head and piper cam, n weber 32/34, but is going like old 1.2 now! its fine until revs go past 4000rpm then it just doesnt have the cylinder pressure u can hear it kinda go flat and dull montone sound.

but luckily i found sum1 in brighton who has a 1.4 engine up for grabs in a week!

good luck with ur 1.6

few 1.6 engines up for grabs in for sale section, i was tempted myslef, but wud have to get the twin 40's for sure if i had a 1.6 and cant afford it right now!

why are you buyin a new engine just cos your piston rings are gone and who ses they aint gone on this one your gonna buy??

if u gonna do ur rings, then cheack the boars to see if there ok, if there not ittl prob be easyer and cheeper to get that engine.
