What next for my Nova?

Check the spec. Im also having the 285 cam put in, & a 4 branch exhaust manifold very soon.

What else should I do for more performance & improve the car???

Or should I stop spending money on this car & wait until I can get a decent 2.0 16v.

Im only 18 so insurance on a 16v is not happening for years.

personnally mate i would save up for an engine transplant to a 1.6 GSI/GTE (or even 1.6 16v astra engine) you can get that engine in quicker than a 2 litre 16v because you wont have to wait as long for the insurance etc, then do the engine up add all the right things to make the car go well. But if you really want a 2 litre and dont want out else go for it mate as you said it will take a while to get the insurance at a good price but by the you will have the money to get it properly sorted

Yeah I think your right, The 1.6 16v is a decent engine & a good weight, Apparently very competitive around a track against a 2L 16v.
Do you know what Kind of BHP im likely to have with a standard 1.6 16v engine to start with?

Currently my car has 100bhp at the wheels. But with the 285 cam & 4 branch in the next month or so I hope to achieve 110-115bhp?

They come in 106 and 109bhp flavours I think; Can't remember which engine code/year is which though.

i think the C16XE is the 109bhp one, and the X16XE is the 106 one....

As the X is a higher class of emissions, so it'l likely have a bit less horsepower (pinched for emmisions purposes)

Ok thanks for that guys, Im gonna start saving for a 1.6 lump. Ive been told its probably better to buy a whole donor car. so thats the way forward.

i could buy a Astra 1.6 ls engine thats with the muti point injection for ?200 so would be well worthit just for the engine then i no i got every bit then ..
