I am going to get an engine transplant for my nova convertible soon and wanted a 2.0 turbo. But this is proving difficult to find, so a garage has told me that he has a V6 that he will fit for ?2000 with everything included. He also has a 2.0 16v that he could fit for ?1800. I was wondering which engine you would recommend with pros and cons for each. My nova convertible is basically a saloon with no roof so maybe will be better ballanced to hold a V6 then a normall hatchback.
thanks for the help
id stick with a 20xe as the V6 is just a lumbering giant.

unless your fitting it in the back i wouldnt bother with it performance wise, the V6's are actually slower over the 1/4 mile than the 2lt's
but hte V6 will sound wicked. If you are wanting all out performance then sell the convertible and get a hatch and put a nice engine in, if it is just for cred and looks then keep the convertible and put the V6 in

I agree with Chris. A convertible with a V6 would be kool, just for the fact its a V6. But if you want a fast nova then use the 20xe. And if you want a good handling nova use a small block.

Would fitting an f28 6 speed gear box make any difference to the performance? Does anybody know of any good vauxhall V6 websites or privious posts on Novaload or mig to have a look on?
cheers Matt

i know someone who had a v6 nova, very quick, he used the f20 box, it did a 14.2 quater mile, it ate valver nova's for fun and sounded out of this world

Mine ran a 14.4 and that was a standard valver.
There is a guy called Paul Baldwin who posts on www.astra-sport.co.uk, I think he is on Mig too, he is running a 3.0 V6 in an astra and can give your loads of information on what to use and how to do it
Chris
yep, a V6 convertible would be awesome,.
but if your going for power and tuning capability just do the XE and spend the extra ?200 on some upgrades, maybe a Full exhaust ? cams ?

I know the lad whos got that V6 nova aswel and i was suprised how well it handled, its probably cos the engine is actually shorter than an xe and it sits further back over the front wheels than an ex hence making it handle well. on the day he was at york he ran a 14.2 and on the same day thexe's couldn't touch it!

How would the f28 6 speed gearbox effect the V6 performance wise?

yeah but - those convertables- they not bit flimsier (sp) than the 3 door shell?? a v6?.. bit much aye it?? ide say small block ideally, or xe tops, if u must.

Only a 2.0 turbo has the power to get most out of the f28.

There not as flimsy as you think! They have two chunky steel box sections that run from front to back along the sills and a solid T-bar as the 'roof'. In my opinion they handle a lot better than Nova hatchbacks as all the weight and strength is in the box sections giving it a very low centre of gravity.
Fit a pair of strut braces and I don't it will be that much flimsierthan the hatch
