Hi all, new to site and after some tech info.

Basically, I run a 1.2 Nova in the "Rookie Rods" for Spedeworth in the South East. (Oval circuit racing). Have to run standard Vauxhall gears and need to locate a better 2nd gear than a 1.96:1 as this is slow out of the corners. Heard a rumour that Vauxhall do a 2.14:1 and a 2.18:1 and was wondering if anyone can confirm this and, if so, what car I will find it in as I will get down the breakers yard pronto!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

if you want a longer gear i.e. less acceleration/more top speed then get a
2.24:1 out of an F10/F13 WR box. Pretty sure that will fit.

I don't know about individual gear but why not try and source another gearbox with a higher final drive ratio?

The CR 4:18 found on SR's is one of the highest, that should give you your higher ratio in 2nd, and all other gears!

umm the only gears you can change independantly are 5th and the final drive ratio

in the straights are you hitting the limiter of 5th?
if not then go for a 4.18 or 4.29 or 4.53 final drive.

the 4.18 is easier to find and the other 2 well you'll be a lucky lucky mand to find one. but that should solve your accelration woes if you dont run out of steam in the straights

Itll prob be a 4 speed box as its a 1.2
The rules say he has to use a vauxhall gear box, but that doesnt include internals could put a quaffe set in side!!!

my 1.2 was a 5-speed.

i think there are just as many 5-speed 1.2's as 4-speed's. if not more.
