Well....
After getting a quote for a 1mm overbore + New pistons & rings etc for around ?210 i got to it with stripping down engine some more.
here's how its going:
First off here's a pic of all the stuff, including the EFI Junk, that i took off at the weekend...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0006.jpg
Must have saved me a few kilo's in weight already!
here's the block minus the head...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0005.jpg
Gearbox also...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0007.jpg
And Cylinder Head... (Soon to be a Blydenstein Monster)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0008.jpg
Time to drain oil, so in with the crane...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0012.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0011.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0010.jpg
And out with the plug...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0014.jpg
(note when doing plug up again, remove tray first so spanner doesn't drop in oil lol)
Now starter motor off and upside down we go...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0015.jpg
Sump off...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0017.jpg
And finally oil pickup pipe & housing off...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0018.jpg
All i did after that was draw a picture of the conrod bolts and big bearing bolts with the numbers and positions of them on the caps.
Ran out of light so will start on undoing them tomo, then get the crank out ready for re-bore.
update tomo hopefully...
Looking good
?210 seems a good price, is that with it all fitted back together ?
I'm going to be doing the bottom end soon, so i'l find this rather useful, thanks !

i'll be running the trusty 1.3 at donnington.
1.6 won't be in till end march/april cause gotta change final drive and get my head off to bill and put it all back together. and book a friday/monday off work.
+Mot is in a week or 2 but fingers X won't cost a limb.
Then get insurance and DVLA sorted etc.
looking really good mate
hope it all goes well for you :D
so you have a b+ 1300 head for sale??
Looks like you'll be having fun cleaning it all up (Looks quite oily).
If you're gonna chuck the MPi bits n pieces in the nearest skip you could always take the TPS off and pop it in the post for me as I *think* mine's knackered but not really sure......

TPS?
And yeah i will have a 1200 B+ for sale some point in the near future, along with manifold and bottom end.
Plus GTE bits i won't need will go on ebay or here.
i took me a while to think about it but eventually i decided to go for a 1.6.
I got 50% of the performance parts on my 1.3 already and will only cost around ?800-900 with the head an bottom end built up to a good spec.
plus its a dead easy swap.
Didn't want an XE
a) cause it would cost a bit more (a lot more to get the same handling).
b)easyness of conversion
C) small block's rule.
dont be throwing that efi stuff away now will you
TPS?
Throttle Postition Switch - little black box on the back of the throttle housing which slides on the end of the throttle spindle - held on by two small cross-head screws and has part of the wiring loom plugged into the bottom of it.
can i have first refusal on the head? i might not want it but can you let me know before you sell it?
cheers

....here we go then...
Didn't have any time to work on it yesterday, so started again at around 3pm Today...
First thing i did was to take off conrod caps and shells 1 at a time and centre punch them so i know which goes where...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0019.jpg
Here they are off...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0020.jpg
Next i started on the clutch, first the outer housing....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0021.jpg
Then the driven plate came off easily with a wedge from a screwdriver....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0022.jpg
Next up was to attack the flywheel after marking its postition relative to crank with a bit of paint.
The bolts were awkward to undo with a rubber hammer and bar because the flywheel would turn a bit at the same time.
This called for decisive action!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0026.jpg
Tempting, but Too Big :o
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0023.jpg
better.
Although i needed to refill the compressor 3-times cause they were putting up a hell of a fight (threads had locking compound stuff on)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0024.jpg
On with the show and off came the flywheel....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0025.jpg
Felt fairly heavy, but it will be going back on as it is, no lightening.
The oil pump had to come off next...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0027.jpg
And the big bearing caps/shells (quite tight)....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0028.jpg
This is what it looks like so far...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0029.jpg
Just the cap that covers the rear crank seal to come off, this was giving me some jip as it has to have sealer injected into the bolt holes to seal around so was a job to pull out.
Eventually it came away... (bottom one)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0032.jpg
And left me ready for the final manouver...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0030.jpg
So out came the crank...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0035.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0033.jpg
The pistons fell out the top pretty much volantarily when i lifted the block away...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0037.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0036.jpg
Now thats done its ready for its rebore/new pistons. Before i packed the pistons up i centre punched the conrods also to identify them.
1 of the long inlet manifold bolts in the cylinder head sheared off after half a turn trying to undo it so i'm getting Dave to drill it out for me at the same time, another one is also too tight to undo so i left that to him also.
Stripped cylinder head of Lifers/folowers and thrust pads...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/Snowface-85/imag0038.jpg
and finally ready for the short journey tomo after work...

lol how old is that compressor lol
when i undo a flywheel i just wedge a wooden handle down between the crank and block to stop it turning then get the bar on it, it works a treat

Won't stay shiny for long :) .
Andrew at Cylinder Head Developments did the head work. He reckoned it should add 25bhp, but we'll see.
Got more pics i'll put up in a min of the swapover.

Kent at top
1.6 GTE in middle
1.2 at bottom.
must have updated the design, or the injection ones are slightly different.
I used the Kent ones.
TPS?

Bloody still waiting for this to arrive through the door - I bet my skanky postman has stolen it............
It all looks very good, but could you post up links to the pictures next time, theres that many of them it takes ages to load, even on adsl. Maybe put one or two pics up, but no need for all of them, it's like a flicker book, lol.

I mentioned it back on page 1 if the MPi stuff was going to be junked but you never said anything about it.
