With all the different threads flying about about dead novas and everything else. The question id like to ask is what are people doing to there cars in way of mods for this year. Now not everyone will be forthcoming which is fine. But at least it gives an idea of what peeps have been up to and what we have to look forward to! Pictures welcome on this thread. i will get some up to date pics at some point.
Some peeps might have new cars ect such as karl with his evo. So lets have some pics :) 8)

Where do i start...

Car looked like this before it came off the road at Christmas:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/cornidh/Dscf0517.jpg

But now, has new front wings, new bonnet & a new custom front bumper. I've also had the wheels powder coated a dark grey colour, and new Toyo Proxes all round. It's got a rear disc conversion which i've just finished. I've taken the skirts off aswell.

It has a new drivers door, and i'm looking out for a passanger door at the moment. Er, new mirrors, new vinyl and a couple of other small bits.

Oh and also a blown up LET which i need to rebuild before the summer

Plans are two new rear arches, and possibly sills i need to have a poke at them with a screwdriver. Finish painting the inside and possibly go dash-less, and perhaps a new tailgate.

I'll post some new pics when i get the chance :)

Just fitted my phase 2 kit to the turbo, getting new lower rear springs in the few weeks or so (gone higher since I stripped it). Car is going in for all the drain holes welding up, seat rails welding in, all rear seat brackets removed and full interior respray this week hopefully and then I just need to get all the outside resprayed as I have new grille, wings, bonnet and door to go on. Then its just a case of MOT and tax and i'm ready to roll!!

Well, i bought mine just before christmas, it was in a bit of a state, the bloke had been driving it around with no brakes, a blowing manifold, flat tyres and fucked shocks..

So when i got it the first thing i did was sort the brakes out, and the blowing manifold, and got some 15s to put on as temp. Gave it a good clean. Ive recently fitted some GTE seats and GSi skirts, and an ibiza splitter.. The outside of the car look ok now...

I also am waiting for a new door and the drivers side is very rust and the laquer is coming off. Oh, and im soon to have a new bonnet as the laquer is peeling off of that aswell, plus it is full of filler..

So, for this year, the plan is:
Get door, bonnet and wing sprayed up.
Get bumpers and skirts sprayed in a dark grey colour
Sort out the suspension with some new, uprated springs
Source some Cavalier GSi rims and get the panted hight gloss black
Fit my new lights
Get the rear wiper removed
and just generally tidy it up...

I also want to be able to get it to some show and put it on my uncles stand

Engine as it stands and engine bay. Still to build most of the engine back up, need all the parts to fit the new management, and money is tight just now
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/broos3/carstuff214.jpg
Thats the rear beam with all mah painted and powdercoated parts on it. need 2 split pins of all things before the back end is done.

So in conclusion need money to buy the ecu and all bits still, and money for a rolling road time. And still need to get mah lowered tie bar mounts. Thats all but its alot of maney that needs saved.

This is what mine looked like at the end of last year.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/DPursey/MyNova.jpg

Since then its been in the garage :-

All the annoying rust taken out.
Sprayed the inside of the car roughly (So that it was all one-ish colour)
Arches have been ground out.
Avo's fitted
Ecentric rose jointed top mounts.
Foot rest for the passengers.
Fiberglass bonnet and tailgate have been fitted.

Polycarbinate windows are on order.
Rear venturi tunnels are on order.

So visually its not been changed much except that the side-skirts and rear spoiler are not on and its lower. This is what it looks like at the mo.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/DPursey/DSC00115.jpg

My Nova was built for trackdays 'only' and not really to look good (if you see what I mean). I wanted to keep it look standard-ish, so that it would supprise people at the track.

Im also working on this car at the mo

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/DPursey/Dsc0290230.jpg

We will be fitting a 2l 16v Zetec turbo into it. Once its finished it will be bright orange ( Don't ask ) with either black or anthricite cossie wheels. The crappy little bonnet air in-take will be dissapearing as well. Also the wheels are being spaced out to meet the arches. Although the car looks like a shed at the mo its already had quite alot of work done on it . For example its running a cossie box and all the suspension has been done (coilovers five linked). It should be a monster. I just hope that its not too much faster than my Nova.

i've just fitted my brakes, they will be teste out at donington later this month. i need some new alloy's and slicks.

next on the list is/are

eccentric top mounts
lowered tie bar mounts
polycarbonate window's
remove dash and all other needless trim

then that will do for a while, untill my mate has time to spray it for me, or my engine give's up then i will have to decide what to replace it with.

i am also keeping a eye out for a reasonably priced nova sport, one on ebay went for ?1000. don't really want to spend that much

nathan.

Well as people know i scrapped the blue shell last year.
Found myself a nice straight white shell. (there is some work needed tho to make it clean)
CP/DAN/STU and myself have been busy at riflerange putting it back together. At the moment the engine and gearbox are all in. And cp has sprayed the inside again. Need to get the windows back in and seats and a few other bits then its ready to be fired up. Need to set the shifter correctly and the straight thru linkage. Plus get the hydraulic handbrake setup! Stu made a terrific loom for the dta. (excellent mate) . Once ive orderd the last few bits theres no reason why it shouldnt be running at the next weekends work!
Then its time to get the outside up to scratch.
The engine has received a upgrade which means i should be pushing alot more power than i was running last time out. Just a case of figuring a few things out to get the best from it. But again im sure it will get there!
1/4 mile should be fun if everything goes to plan. But the main aim is track!! :)
Ill get some update pics at some point!

dan16v
01-02-05, 10:35 PM
well myne is getting there, slowly!, due to companies fcuking me around as usual, and part not fiting etc etc
manifold has been fully welded now, just need my sbd valve caps turned down so they will fit the new springs and i can crack on with gay things like hoses i/c pipe work!

well ive done my interior and id like to add some more black pannels to it of i can (well paint the ones ive got really. not sure what yet but i want to do some other touches to it inside to try to make it a bit more individual.

http://www.cruisesouthwest.co.uk/modules/Gallery/albums/album178/100_0353.jpg

the engine is coming out and an xe in realatively standard form will be dropped in (bout 160bhp) much better on fuel and still dam quick, means i can get to more shows this year as it wont cost me a bomb on fuel.

im going to get all the bodywork cleaned up too.
and ive got a spare set of lower arms tie rods and rear beam that im going to powder coat red to finnish the suspension off

Not doing too much with mine over the winter.
Stack dash has gone in, which looks pretty smart.
Electric power steering has gone in.
Ordered ally tank from pro-alloy for wheel well
Had steering cowling done in Carbon fibre and seat belt cover by the door and windscreen pillor which looks good.
Would stick some pics up if i knew whot i was doing!!!!

Cheers

well still loads for me to do for the summer season. was hoping to spray the sheel with the two weeks ive had off work, no go, too cold, paint hasn't arrived...

the parts piles are building up and up though, running out of room, even had to store the heated windscreen elsewhere

just left to sort some seats and get my coilovers refurbed at AVO, oh and some solid top mounts as the last ones were gonna prove too much hassle to mod to fit. few pics taken a while back now, been lots more done since, will do an update post when i get hold of a camera
