Sometimes when i switch the car off it tries to keep running I was told this is due to carbon build up is this true and how do I solve the problem ?

quite a few nova's do this m8ty.

mine only does it if the car is still walming up, i take it u have an auto choke? so when i go to the shops in the morning and teh car still walming up it will be a sod to turn off.

only way you have solve it is by letting your car walm up 1st 8)

Can also be the timing too far advanced IIRC

Sounds like the one above. also check your plug gaps, if they are far to close this will cause it to over run when switching off!

Take them out, obviously,
and then use guage to check the gap. And if neccessary adjust the gap using pliers or whatever

why would the plug gaps have anything to do with it?

ignition off, plugs arent sparking, any running on is caused by pre-ignition or pinking due to over advanced timing or to high a compression ratio

try running it on super unleaded as a tester, if it stops its defo pinking
