I was just looking through some old zip disks and found copies of novaload from the early days!

I then found a link to the very first forum, which was a free one with CgiForMe.com

Anyway, it seems some weirdos called Dr who and Bubbles have been using it, aswell as a few genuine Nova owners!

If you go back through the pages theres some familiar names lol

heres the link lmao

My original nova site started in September 96 so ner ner ;)

It was set up as an assignment in one of my first year optional subjects at uni.

hand written in html - what? on paper with a bic biro?? that must have been hard to upload. :D

i remember the days when a 28.8 connection was as good as it got... and there was practically no such thing as a wysiwyg editor. all hand TYPED in a text editor like notepad and uploaded over a period of 24 hours.

we have steered novaload through the choppy waters of the modified car sea. and brought ourselvs to our destination, this destination, where we can rise up and say "we is the best nova site now fuck off"

I made the first version on novaload with MS notepad, and at the time I think I used Paint Shop Pro for the imaging.

Now I use Macromedia Dreamweaver for the pages and Macromedia Fireworks for the imaging. I also have Photoshop to hand.

All the asp, JavaScript and perl are done using a glorified text editor, basically notepad with colours!

I gave up doing the HTML in notepad as it takes 1/10th the time in dreamweaver, and unlike frontpage and other rivals it doesent produce sloppy unneeded code.

dreamweaver kicks ass.
i usually use hotdog as its a txt editor but with shortcuts for stuff like images and tables and all that stuff.
dreamweaver is great though. very easy to use and like you said kev, no messy un-necessary coding thrown in for good measure.
all the macromedia stuff is great. i love it.

are you using genuine copies and lining the pocket of your heroes with titanium or is it a "backup" copy as the original version accidentally went in the bin?

Once again I will need to consult my consultant before commenting

I've got the Dreamweaver & Fireworks bundle, I have got a "trial version" of flash aswell but I dont really use that.

lol

lol.....I can get hold of a "back-up" copy of Dreamweaver from a mate of mine.....I might have to give it a go.

I was going to buy it (to be all legal for business purposes) but I might try a "back-up" first....then not bother buying it :D
It's a bit dodgy using "back-up" versions for doing Business sites though...so might have to buy it eventually.

Is Fireworks really that good? You can do allsorts in PSP....what can you do in Fireworks that you can't in that?

you'd have to try it for yourself and see rich.
i suppose its all just a question of what you're used to using, and what you prefer.
