i bought my nova with a c20xe and when the previous owner took me for a spin before i bought it he took me for a spin. The clocks in the car are the 6 dial ones with oil pressure and battery gauge and the rev counter needle went off the rev counter? It did this and then valve bounced so i thought but is it more likely that my car is chipped and it hit the limiter? The engine is outta a 92 cav gsi he told me. Is the rev limiter built into the ecu?

word of warning, std rod bolts in these engines are pushed right to their limits with 6800rpm

i would SERIOUSLY recommend fitting ARP's (or possibly even a set of new std bolts but chamfer the end caps in the same way as ARP's require) as without them you are playing a engine failure lottery, and just because u havent "won" yet doesnt mean u will never "win"

they only cost about ?60 and are really easy to fit so for piece of mind i'd be fitting them before raising any rev limits

oh and if u managed to push an xe to valve bounce i'd imagine u'd be well past 7750 and have a manged engine since the valve clearances are so tight

youve probably just hit the rev limiter as that makes a bouncy rev'ing noise and yes its built into the ecu
