Phono lead problem

Right I don't know much about this so if anyone can help i would be most grateful. I connected the BUS lead from my sony cd changer and then to the head unit and works fine, but when i connected the phono leads from the head unit to the changer it dosen't detect it. Could something be faulty or have i done something wrong??

IIRC you dont need to connect the phono leads if you have the bus connected. I think the phono leads are for when you use the sony FM modulator with the changer. Is the audio not carried on the bus? Where are you plugging the phono leads in to on the head unit?

I'm not sure if the BUS lead carriers the audio, but I know it supplys the power which works fine i.e, lets me take the magazine out. For the phono leads I connectd them to the BUS audio in on the head unit as it says in the manual. I just don't understand why it doesn't respond, maybe the info in changer is dated or something?
