How fast are your Nova whit a c20let standart ore modifiet
gearbox F16-F28, 14 ore 19 ince rims
0-60 and top speed??????
my old nova c20xe standart. whit 16 ince rims and F20
0-60 in 6,9 sek
top 138mph

my xe does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, and top speed of some where around 140
my 1.2 is about
0-60 13 seconds
top speed - 100mph.
With the new engine i'm building, hopefully it will be just as quick (if not quicker) than a standard XE

my 1.3 does 0-60 in 10.5 secs and has a top speed of bout 105 (110 if i'm going down hill!!!)
Not bad considering mines bog standard!
1.4 16V
0-60 = 6.02
Top speed - depends on tyre size etc but around 110 -120 at rev limit light
my gte is 0-60 - 8sec top speed - not sure nova clocks are crappy

i'd say my 1.3 is a little bit faster than a GTE/GSI.
not 100% sure of top speed. Around 118-122 if i work it out (i can hit 6.5k limit in 4th on a w/r box which is around 118-122)
What Are 1.4 Sr's 0-60 time? and top end speed any one no?
my 1.2 would probanly take 2 to 3 days to hit 0-60, and IFF it can get to 100mph it would probably disintegrate

Whats the deal with 0-60 times anyway? they give no real indication of how quick the car is, 0-100/ 1/4 mile times is more of an indicator.

i must agree with sum of u guys..mine is a stand 1.4i n it wen drivin down 2 MK,it pisses me off! if i'm not in 4th goin to a roundabout,it'l take me until the next roundabout to reach 60! ok maybe noit that bad, but it's quite embarrasing.,

maybe thats cos your not driving it properly...
most will hit 55-60 in 2nd never mind 3rd or 4th
ive known a good few folk with small engined cars who thaught their cars were much slower than they actually were simply because they didnt rev the damn thing thru the gears properly
oh and no 1.2 is getting to 115mph - no matter what the speedo says
i had my bro's at 5700rpm in 4th on the m6, speedo claiming 125mph, actual speed 105mph and that was downhill for about 5 miles to get there

When I was running a xe engine on carbs, cams etc. it was reading 151mph on the digi clocks!
my 1.2 is about
0-60 13 seconds
top speed - 100mph.

my bros 1.4 sr wit 115,0000 on the clock harshly need a service a full ashley exhaust system and a K'n' N filter top speed was 118mph not bad it left his mates clio 1.4 8 valve for dead that toped out at 110mph

A mate came with me to the pod last year in his 16v clio he'd stripped out the back seats and his best run was 15.9 secs. Can't remember the terminal speed. It was std bar a full system + decat + K&N panel filter.

I had my phase 3 let nova at 7200k in 5th on 16's alongside a gsxr600 on a undisclosed bit of borrowed motorway, stack dash with no speedo but we were seriously moving and I think the biker was maybe a little suprised, It must of been around a genuine 155mph as I was going past cars a little on the quick side, in fact i remember catching a bump at about 5.5k on full boost and it wheelspan nearly off the rev limiter,
I would never try it again unless I had a few more safety features, the car was totally stripped except 2 buckets and just accelerated far too hard for its own good,it would chew 5th up like 2nd gear in a normal car I sometimes wonder why I wanted more power, it was fun at the time though

Well it wont be a 1.2 soon, that's for sure.
forgot to say, the o-60 on standard boost with the race technology timing gear was 5.4 with not so good starts and no diff, I think with the a LSD and no weight or bullshit hanging off the car you would hit a 4.9 maybe but it was never really the 0-60 that counted cos of the wheelspin, 60-140 was quicker than anything I ever raced and everyone locally admitted it was in a league of its own, I had a few quick cossys wanting a challenge but sadly the car was broken up before I had the chance to give it a go,
My mates kingdom kitted phase 3 let nova is only as quick as my mates 331bhp 4*4 saff cossy on the motorway but accelration out of corners is far quicker in the nova although from a standing start the cossy eats the nova.
TBH this is something that I now realise that the novas really aren't as quick as people may believe, if you want cheap speed then yes a phase 3 let nova can be built for sensible money but then again to make it safe and handle well etc etc you will need to spend some serious dollar and thats why I'm concentrating on my mk2 escort cossy and just having a xe nova as the escort is usable for drag, track days and shows and the xe nova is a very good reliable day to day car, which is cheap to maintain.

Staying in 2nd/3rd to 60mph, and you are obviously gonna get there quicker, if you are in fourth at 50mph it is gonna take longer to reach 60 than leaving it in 3rd.
My astra has the same engine as your nova if its a 1400i, and i can do about 59mph in 2nd gear, obviously accelerating a lot quicker than being in fourth. I rarely use 4th due to a serious lack of power especially with a 60bhp engine, unless on the motorway. National Speed limit country lanes etc i tend to leave it in 3rd.
But obviously petrol consumption suffers.

Are all these figures calculated / measured on "on the speedo" figures?

There was a speed calculator on migweb the other day.

So using Pie, There is a 1.4cm difference in diameter between a 16" and a 17" Rim.
I know this post isnt about rim differences etc, but it has something to do with it!

So according to that scale/graph mine can only do max on my speedlines of 140 with the f20 box,but on 17's it dose 4mph more?? WOW 4mph :lol: :P

well, me and me mates times arent exactly speedo figures, but 2 video's using that new seamens (i think neway??) phone, with the huge screen and vid recorder!!
we wedged it in our steering wheels and timed 0-60 tearing up a strip in an industral estate. Ripping it up right outside legendery cossie tuner's "PJ Motorsport" :lol:
SRi, Magnex CAT back system, piper air filter, 16's = 8.5 secs
SR, Magnex exhaust system, K&N airfilter, completlety stripped out rear,15's, SRi cyclinder head, GSi manifold = 8.1 secs
top speeds, i dont really know, but coming back from MK the SRi overtook me, and i was doing 125 :|

My mate has said to me on a few occasions let's take my bike(CBR 600) out against you nova if you think it's as fast as you say it is...well as im off work at the mo so i took him upon this on monday,we drove to a long two lane carrige way,first run down we whent from 50mph rolling strat side by side,we wer prety much level on accleration from 50 to 130,then he was faster(it is a bike) any way on the way back he clocked me on his digi speed(that is acurate,and go's to165mph)clocked me at a top speed of 147mph..i know i know it's silly and im a danger to othere road users at this speed,there wernt many other car's or trafic arround,but it's done now..
So top speed is 147mph and 0-60 5.6 est..
Oh but one thing els i did burst a water pipe while doing this so it was not such a great idea :roll:

Dude there is no way on earth your car would match a cbr 600 unless your mate couldnt drive for shit. 0-100 in 7 seconds, 1/4 in 11@125. You may aswell say you kept up with a macca f1. LOL
Cbr 600s was never one of the fastest bikes .. and he didnt say he was faster he said they was side by side .. im sure if the bloke on the bike knocked it down a gear he would leave the car no problem ... but alot of cars can keep up with bikes now but from a stand still no car would beat a bike if the bike got a bit of grip it would be gone ... it annoys me when people say shit on here and other people just go and say that it is bull shit when how do u no was u there?

Sorry, a bike that does 0-100 in 7seconds. And a car that does 0-100 in 16? seconds. I fail to see how he could 'keep' up.
The bike is only 40bhp down on the car and weighs about 600kg lighter. You do the math? If he come on and said he raced a maclaren f1 and stayed side by side with him would you belive him?
its a standard 600 cbr ..... not a track bike or nothing ... i rode bikes for years and no a cbr 600 would not do 0-100 in 7 secs would be more like 11 so would s till beat the car .... they wasnt going from a start they was going from 50 mph . bike was prob in too high gear to take away.. but that nova does look like a quick car.. anyway i dont care :D
but after all ure nova is a 1.2 :roll: thats me done .. cant be doing with arguing over some shite

his nova is actually sold, and I fail to see the relevance of what car he drives with relation to his ability relay the facts.
I too doubt the nova would have kept up with the bike unless the bike was (1) pacing itself to the car (2) the rider couldn't ride or (3) the bike had an HT lead pulled off,
Open your eyes and get real people, an Xe'd Nova is quick but there is no way on gods green earth one would keep up with a well ridden sports bike

Hey guys mainly DAN.. read it again it was a mate right,and we wer "testing my top end" plus at the point of 50-130 he wasnt going for it no but he wasnt just tootling along,it was really windy also whitch affected him more then me,as he found it really hard to keep his front wheel under control..yes his bike is shit loads faster then my car,lol i never said it was loads slower did i?? oh i dont know if this make any diffrence it is a CBR 600FS? anyway dan you always get so touchy about this type of thing,i find it quite funny really, see you on track? :lol:
At the end of the day we wer out to clock my top end whitch we did,so that was the point of it..

scott mate, have you ever been out in a clio 16v handling wise as standard it is shit hot, theres no need to wear blinkers dude something non vaux can be cool you know. Scott benji went past you in a less powerful car than dans (no offence benji) i dont think the hangdling will be much different.
This isnt a dig at you mate as you know i like my nova but other cars can be fast mate 8)
