m8 ...your options are open to what ever you like , - but i went along this route:
1 Vibe black air 10 ( ebay , but ?180ish from halfords ) a 600 watt cable kit from CPC ? 25 -30
the sub comes with a 300w amp in built and is a killer...its an easy installation n all...

thats 1 option -the easiest route.

I mean, if for instance, I have 2 subwoofer things rated at about 200-250watt RMS, what size amp would I need to run them nicely? Basically all I want to know.

You want to match your RMS figures, best bet would be a 2ch amp outputting 200-250w RMS on each channel (probably about 500w PMPO per channel). And of course wiring kits are available for about ?20-30, or you can buy the wires separately to your own measurements from Halfords for about 99p/meter.

I've got 2x Sony LP121S pentagon subs, PMPO 1200w each and RMS 350w each, with a Magnat Combat 4000 amp thats pushing out about 350-400w per channel RMS. The bass is pretty good, especially when you consider the Sonys are budget subs and cost me ?80 the pair! But it does what I want it to do, and gives a good enough sound for me... the Magnat amps are good stuff, my old Jensen and Sony ones were poo in comparison :)

If you're looking for amps, try ebay - I picked up my first Magnat amp for ?75 inc p&p (RRP ?180), and the Combat 4000 amp for ?115 inc p&p (RRP ?400). Bargains!
