i just polished my rocker cover, im happy with the way it came out, but as i put it back on and put everything back into place, i realised how messy my engine bay is... what is the best/cheapest way to tidy it all up...

i use
a smart dry engine degreacer to remove all the shit

and autosol to polish the metal work up

and autoglym to polish the paint work up

silicon polish to make the black plastics shine

you could tart your hoses up with a braided hose kit from halfords thats what i did

Try ditching the Airbox for a K&N or a induction kit (make it look simpler)

get a new set of plugs and leads (nice and clean and new - halfords ones are cheap, and have white wirting along them, they look quite Performancy)

Give everything a clean (watch out for that rust on the drivers side suspension turret, fails an MOT if there is a rust hole within 30cm's of top mount)

if you wanna go for the ultimate clean look, hiding all the wires down behind the wings looks cool, but it's an arse to do and probably not worth it.

first things first ditch the UFO (standard airbox lol) for a K 'n' N or ITG filter (like baxters) then you'll be able to see more of the cam cover you've polished up. then get down to halfords (or motorfactor's) and pick up some GUNK whack it all over the greasy oily parts of your engine with an old brush. let it soak in a bit then jetwash it off (if you havent got a jetwas just wash it off with a hose , repeat this untill all the sh!t is off your engine, then you can either use metal polish as epo said then or get some silver (or whatever colour you want) high temp. paint (halfords) then spray the your engine up.

then you'll have a nice clean looking engine. so get some new ht leads or blue/red ones .

all in all should cost you about ?40 +-

then when you have that looking nice. if i were you i'd bin the plastic washer bottles in favour of bailey metal one's or just get some smaller ones and put them behind the bulkhead. makes the bay 100% less cluttered and cleaner.(if putting them behind the bulk head get a cover to run along the top covering them and the battery)

then re-spray the the sides of your bay so they look all shiny and new.
(rattle cans will do as it doesnt have to be A1 as its in the bay afterall lol)

JOB DONE. a show winning engine bay (with some silicon hose's  )

:D :+:

i think self painted engine parts look really tacky.

if your gonna have something painted, i think youre best of getting it Sand blasted or whatever and having a professional spray it all. That way you keep all the detail of the metal e.t.c

Just clean Silver Engine block, head, e.t.c with Polished Rocker cover, Chromed Carbs, and a few nice touches

yay nick agrees lol

the only bit that should be painted is the block in my opinion and then it should be black
