which would win? would the gte win due to more power to weight ratio, lighter etc?

or

would the valver win, not much between the two powers tbh.

In my experience if you had 2 cars with same spec shell on road tyres the 1.6 8v is faster to about 100mph compared to a run of the mill valver.

well dan has a quicker 1/4 time than me by about a few hundredths of a second but i have a faster end speed. I think it would be very close

I thought you ran your times with the cams in or whatever? i assumed he meant a 'standard' valver aka run of the mill (my bad if i got wrong end of stick and talking rubbish  )

he did run with his cams and also didnt run his fasted 1/4 at 98mph as he likes to believe :|

Surely a valver will have bags more torque ?

Can someone quote figures.....

Can someone quote figures.....

which isnt a great deal of use in a light car as it just induces wheel spin in most gears

My last sheet of lies claimed i had 142bhp, but quoting figures means diddly when we have out and out evidence from proper timed runs lol. A standard valver will run anything from 14.6ish fully stripped to high 14's/low 15's in normal trim.

is that for a standard valver. still not bad really. its nice to know as ive just put my interior back in and will be fitting a standard valver too (it wont be standard for long lol)

ur 14.5 dan is that fully stripped also?

i seen recent pics of ur car with nothing but steering wheel and a few gauges lol. is this how ur ran it to get 14.5?

Yes it was, but the valvers i have seen run the times i stated had no cage or sod all and stripped. The cage and all the additional welding we did to mine put 30kg back in, same as the wheels have added weight back on due to the gsi wheels being on the slab side of things lol. With those factors missing we could of ran faster again but then it wouldnt of been built for the track.

There might be some left as i have only had 4 attempts in this car and 2 of those are in my sig, with a few more runs and the additions some seem to think it will improve anyway. doubt it tbh but we shall see when the weather gets nice and hot again.

bttt

so which would win the 1.6 8v running 140bhp or 2.016v nova running 160bhp :|

just go to a 1/4 mile day and race ffs. thats the onlyl way to tell!

if your speculationg to try and brag to your mate(s) then dont be a fanny about it without proof.

im not bragging to anyone!. It was purely a simple question ffs. I figured as this is infact a nova forum, that someone might be running a 1.6 8v with the approx. 140 bhp and someone a valver nova. I also thought they might have some figures that they may share, so before getting on your high horse about it, why not post nothing if you cant make a constructive comment. Its prats like this that make people not use the forum.

so can anyone shed some info on the above mentioned cars?

Stuart

dan has a v powerful 1.6 8v AS STATED!!!! and ht generally runs faster 1/4 times than a 20XE nova

but you have to strip the interior out

ps Strike one and two ;)

lol at strike 1 + 2, well im strike 3 thats the info i wanted plus a few numbers of 0-60 and stuff would help but that will do.

thankyou  cambridge

ermm everything you said there has been answered lol, myself with a 140bhp 1.6 8v nova, philsutton with a cammed valver 165+bhp(guess), both stripped out and the fact that over the qtr of a mile mine is a smidge faster. All the facts and figures where put on the first page of this thread so i dont understand what the bttt or bickering is for lol.

Unfortunatley prats like myself occasionally try to be helpful but peeps dont read everything they asked for and make our time wasted :(

your time is not wasted, i got the info i wanted, THE END.

and i wasnt referring to you as a prat either. that was in reply to the post after mine containing 'ffs' in it which wasnt required i was only asking simple questions as a newbie. what a great start to my what i thought was going to be a long stay!

Don't know if its already been said but can't be arsed reading the rest of the thread. There are so many factors that effect these times as well, driver skill, weather etc etc so ther is no definite answer to the question.

Stuart
28-01-05, 10:38 AM
^ exactly !

just get your 140bhp 1.6 (with lots of work done to it) and race the valver to find out.

you win some, you lose some. tbh who cares aslong as your happy with your car.

Dan is obviously a good 1/4 mile racer as well as not many people have got consitant times to the scale he has, most peoples times seem to vary significantly between their best ever run and all the other runs they have ever done.

hopefully mine should be a force to contend with
