Just went to start my car up dont start it up often once every 2 days or so . Started it up left it for a minuite then it started ticking opver high like 2000 revs and with my exaust it makes it sound loud as hell .... was smoking like hell out the back just normal smoke coulour no weird colours .. Is this to do with car not been used much .. And its the automatic choke kicking in or something else???

Most probably a problem with your automatic choke mate - if i have my (manual) choke left on for too long then my car idles at just over 2000rpm.

Dont have a clue how an automatic choke works though - it might be sticking on or something. I cant really give any advice except take it to a garage and get them to have a look..

its not smoke, its steam. this is perfectly normal, every car does this, normally first thing in the morning. :lol:

dont continually start it every few days to "keep it fresh" or whatever

it does more harm than good

if u cant drive it then leave it with the brakes off and in 1st gear

give it a start every month or so if u really have to but i'd seriously recommend DRIVING it and not just letting it sit there at idle

car can happily sit there for months/years without being started and be perfectly fine

i had a 1.4sr engine sat in my garage for 12months and when i cracked it open to change the head it was in perfect nick

Thats good to know mate - i was a bit worried that my new nova would start to develop problems becuase i am leaving it off the road to do up for a while, and was thinking of just starting it every day to keep the engine going, but if it can be left then that is a big bonus..

Get it crypton tuned

It takes about an hour they check everything engine wise

my car was idleing way too high, they fixed that, and fiddled with a few other bits,

It made my car a smoother drive and more economical

only was about 50 quid

I thought that was a bargain!!

i just started it up then took it for a drive was idleing high for couple a mins then it stopped and ticked over nicely think it was just cold and steam was coming out the back ... I aint drove it in ages so i ragged it up and down my strret got the neighbours looking at 6000 rpm down a quiet street :$ crypto tunes here cost like ?20 and they come to your door .. gonna be getting one done soon ta m8
