Do people think a Ford Focus 1.4 would be ok to carry home a C20XE, or would I better hiring a van / pickup?

Can the engine be lifted without an engine crane thing? (As I dont have one!)

Cheers.

should be fine m8, just take some wood and foam along to protect the focus. me and a m8 picked my c20let up with gear box attached in a pug 206  just had to fold the seats down, took 3 of us to lift it. so take a big m8 and get the seller to give you a hand :D

if you do pick it up in the focus make sure there is no oil that can escape from the engine!!

lmao! I made that mistake when I delivered my old valver engine to someone in my dads van. it fell over in the back of the van and all the oil poured out!!! made a right mess, but at least it was in a van and not onto the seats of a car or something

when i had a small oil leak i used to keep a can of oil in the boot. Once i found the lid off and about a litre of oil had leaked into my spare wheel well and boot.
Didn't touch the seats or out. The carpet is fine, no stains.

At least if any rain gets in the well it won't be rusting for a while lol.

I stuck a GTE lump in the back of my Mazda, just make sure it can stand up, ish, pad around it with foam or something like the others have said and throw down some waterproof sheet stuff so if you do get any spills you won't damage the carpet etc, and a few hefty blokes to lift it up and out rather than dragging it up the inside of the boot. Sorted.
