This should be in technical but those wheels will fit, I know somewhere that recons but it depends where you live mate!

Was it a grey polo? with a bad boy bonnet?

vw's have an offset of 35 dont they

where as vaux is 49

They'll physically fit as the stud pattern (PCD) is the same 4x100, but as Epo has said the offset is a mile out, you'll find that if you run your Nova on those rims it'll handle terrible and spit out wheel bearings often due to the extra strees put on them.
I'd pass them up and go for something more 'Vauxhall friendly'

why not use a 10mm spacer that will bring the wheel out more

If they're et35, a 10mm spacer will make them et25....

the wheels are on now and they are fitting well and driving alright but im now stuck on the decision of how low to go with it :o this is because when theres people in the back the car goes really low and i think it may start rubbing if it is lowered  and they came off a green standard plolo mate!?!

i have found out that the wheels were not originally off the polo and have come off a different car, the offset is wrong i know but i will try and get some pictures posted to see what you think, Andy

i had my alloys on a volkswagon then a astra and a Nova they worked fine never used no spacers or anything ,.

yes but they could be a completly different wheel

Roadknight is right. That's what the wrong offset wheels (i.e below 45) start to stick out more and more, rubbing on the arch lips.

if you went higher they'd rub on the inner arch/shockers

Sometimes you find poeple have to bung spacers on Cav GSi rims. Because the Offset 49 is different to the actual 47.5mm that the nova really is.

i think only some gsi's had the 47.5 offset, all other novas had 49, iirc

i thought it was the other way round ?

anyways, a friend of mine with a 1.4 Luxe (hatch) has problems with his Cav GSi rims, so he has to run spacers to lower the offset. as rub on the shocks without them.

The further the wheels stick out, the lower he Offset, so ET10 will be sticking out way way way past the arch profile. and ET 60 would be hitting your struts.

im sure its that way round, although someone will probably prove me wrong. Well i think my wheels are ET35 an ive used spacers to bring the wheels out as they were hitting the shock

i agree with phil on this one

Well i have no idea but I had a set of speedlines off a astra with et30 and one of the four wheels was very slighty catching on the plastic casing of the pillar behind it.....

although my tyres are a tad wide at 205/50/R15look good though

i had 15 inch oz polaris wheels on my nova (orginally off a GSi cav) they then went on a golf no probs at all....

no internal or external scrubbing

Vauxhall Nova is et-49mm

So if the wheel was et-39mm then it would sit closer to the shock, so would need a 10mm spacer to get correct offset.

The reason wheels rub e.g. 16" tsw alpine et-45mm, is because the wheels are wider.

So Phil you are right!

I thought id take over this thread instead of making a new one........ at the moment my cars got 16" O.Z wheels that are about 8 inches wide with 195 tyres, im not sure what the offset is but they were origionally on a mates nova so should be the right one. Im thinking of lowering it 60mm all round if i do what sort off arch work will i need? This is on a mk1 will i get away with just having the lip on the arches bent over or will they need to be pulled out a bit also what about internal rubbing or does this not happen with the right offset?
