Hi
Anyone no if an exhaust manifold from a gsi wood fit my 1992 nova 1.2i?
YES
but you would have to fit the rest of the system as the gsi is a 4-2-1 unlike the 1.2i which is 4-1
you could fit the gsi system (with or without cat) but cat will be neded for mot

Hi.Got a sportex cat back system yesterday and it supposedly fits a gsi too , so surely if i got a manifold and cat from a gsi it wood work ok?
that would fit but would need the front part of the GSi system to mate upto the manifold

So how many sections are ther that i wood need?
the manifold the cat and???
x3 sectoins altogether.
top and bottom half of the manifold and the CAT box/pipe. the CAT aint gonna be cheap tho unless you get it from a scrappy :|
to a standard nova system there is:-
Manifold (bit that bolts to head)
Down pipe (bit that goes from manifold and finishes at back of engine bay)
Front section ( this is cat or just normal zorst, goes up to just after handbrake handle)
Rear section (goes over beam)
Back box

Cheers. That was my plan any way. Because if i get it all , the cat will be comin off after m.o.t , and a cat replacement pipe put in. Anyone no if it makes the car much quicker?

yer get a GSI manifold downpipe and cat (needs to be from a C16SE so it has the lambda port) then fit the sportex cat back
it revs freer without the cat and with the 4-2-1 but u need to swap out the cam for the greatest benefits - a GTE/gsi one would be the best
i thought that no nova was listed as needing a cat for the MOT, therefor you can do away with the cat completley and safely ?
i thought that no nova was listed as needing a cat for the MOT, therefor you can do away with the cat completley and safely ?not at all the ones after 90-91 i think have to have them
rightio.
my 1992 has no cat :-) lol

all cars 93 > are supposed to be cat equipped (i.e. injection models). I've heard that novas aren't listed on the guidelines for cars that require a cat? Don't know how valid that is though.

there is no fancy regulation that says novas dont need cats
ANY engine built after august 1992 REQUIRES a cat for the mot test
so if your 1993 nova has a 91 engine u dont need a cat
if your 93 nova has a 93 engine u do need a cat
similarly if u stick a 91 nova sr engine into a R reg astra3 u DONT need a cat
the regs go on which is older out of the car and the engine

my bros nova passed an mot with fibreglass all round the inner wings and holes all over it
just because it passed an mot doesnt mean it should have...
