why is it on mig web they have to put you down on everything you go on and say your rr results and you get knocked down just becuase you got good figures with out tbs !!?? oh the rollers must be out all this rubbish !! any body else had same experiance!?
Just ignore it no one in the real world cares (about people going on, didnt' meant they dont care about you)

i guees so lol just winds me up how they make ppl fell like shit!
I suppose it depends on what you say you have done and what the r/r have said. It is true that r/r are best for a 'ballpark' figure as the variation between can be is massive. Also it happens everywhere although mig have had their moments.
IF you really want to prove your point and are confident it is exactly as the r/r have said then look at what times people have run with similar power outputs at santapod, then get out there and prove the car can match them.
As everyone knows i was slated and hammered for similar things on mig, and alot of people have had to eat their own words after having them rammed back down their throats with slips, vids and witness evidence lol.

dont have time to get to pod much myself as am busy most sundays mk meet was a one off! guees thats just mig for u! much better on here my own hit 170 bhp 185 lbf abd just got told i was a prat and 2 piss off basicly! just alittle moan for the day! new engine is nothing like the one i blew so in my mind it is true
170bhp, what engine is that ?
c20xe, c16xe !?
rightio
why the hell don't mig believe that !?!
a friend of mine, is building a LET and he hopes to achieve 400bhp (he coowns a motorsport engineering company, so he knows what he's doing)
think what mig will say when he shows them that lol
If it's in a Astra then they'll believe it - if it's in a Nova they won't.

thats entirely not true
i was probably one of the ones posting that it was crap
the simple reason is that uve given a power claim of 170bhp with headwork and whatever else u had done which isnt really an issue, the problem is more the torque figure
u need to spend about 6 grand to get 190lbft of torque and u NEED throttle bodies (incedentally you'll also be producing about 250-280bhp)
the standard inlet is just waay to restrictive to produce those torque levels
also - torque and BHP cross at 5252 rpm, which means if u were developing 185lbft of torque u would have to be developing 185bhp by that point atleast (assuming a flat torque curve) whereas your claiming MORE torque than power which is generally only seen in turbocharged cars as most NA engines need revs to produce power and torque is lower than power once u pass 5252rpm
the reason people on mig were "putting you down" is that the figures do not and can not make sense with the modifications u have specified and people were trying to make u aware of these facts - people over there and on here dont like bullshit claims and even if its not your fault (ie the rolling road TOLD u it was those figures) when people whove been working with vauxhall engines for years tell u somthings not possible then it generally isnt so instead of arguing with it and moaning over here about it maybe u should take some of the facts onboard??

thats the thread and MR stickland actually TOLD u specifically why the figures were wrong
the figures for your engine are way too high for a filter headskim and exhaust
all this shite about "stick it in an astra and it would be alright" wtf is that about??
ive seen jsut as many cav astra cally owners with big power claims from hardly any mods being told the same thing on migweb and ive seen same occur on here with folk with nova gtes or what ever being told the samer things too
u CANNOT get 185lbft of torque or 180bhp from an XE with a skim, full zorst and filter,
just like if i came on here and said my 1.6 8v nova GTE was making 130bhp cos i had a zorst filter and chip i'd be told i was talking shite - because i would be
.......whereas your claiming MORE torque than power which is generally only seen in turbocharged cars as most NA engines need revs to produce power and torque is lower than power once u pass 5252rpm.........
My E16SE has 108 bhp @ 5133rpm and 120 lbft @ 3750rpm torque measured at Regal. I don't have a turbo!
I've read a lot of negative things on mig, there are some on there that get a bit up themselves, but thats just my opinion.
However in this case the figures do seem a little high for a more or less std XE

think aragorn has a point. those mig guys know their C20XE's as well as we know our 8v small blocks.

agree with you there snowface
i put that on the mig post because is was being generalistic and sarcastic.
i know the torque figures are high, but then that could have been to do with the gear ratio and wheel size etc, as this CAN give the appearence of more torque as the ratio changes the "leverage" on the road.
anyway. if it runs ok who cares

i remember they wouldnt accept that me an bigruss got 5 second 0-60 times at trax. Novas werent capable of doing such things. They said the timing equipment was way out yet we were doing quicker times than some cossies an scoobies. If it was a cav they'd have bummed it to death

ROFLMFMO so he is building a engine that will be small fry in the LET world then    Rick
isnt having a LET that idles a "BIG" thing in that world? lmao

The holy grail cambridge. Lmfao!!!
Anyhow yes the torque figure is a bit to high.
i only made 172lb ft torque lol and ive got quite a bit done to mine!!
Dont you just love migweb.
mig tend to be very anti nova, but love anything cav or mk2 astra LOLOLOL
btw mk2 astras are the best thing in the whole wide world
oops thopught i was on mig for a sec
all this s**t about "stick it in an astra and it would be alright" wtf is that about??
When was the last time a Astra or Cav owner came on MiG and posted a RR result and it was slated? And then compare it to how often Nova RR results get slated on MiG - Jims, Dans and now this one - off the top of my head.
I get the impression that a lot of the people that use MiG seem to be 'emabarssed' that the Nova is made by Vauxhall, they seem to think along the lines of most people - that it's only driven by kids who thrash that arse off them and hang around McDonalds car parks at nights - I'm not denying that there are plenty of examples of that out there, but on MiG - a site for Vauxhall enthusiasts - the humble Nova IS looked down upon, compared to the Cav turbos, Astra GTE/GSi, Calibra etc etc
No doubt about it.
to prove jules posts just look for any post by brett he is a class a prick

Just for the record, I did not know the guy had posted my car on MIG. I was only told about it a few days ago. I have no idea where the torque figure came from as I have never quoted one. I am not a member of MIG and do not intend to become one.
At the end of the day it's how the car drives that matters, and if Charles can take it out for a spin and come back with a smile on his face, then that'll do me ;)

what the hell are you on about ?
i was having a conversation with my local motorsport shop owner who races and builds blueprinted formula ford engines/cars
i.e everyone ends up at roughly same HP
recently he said that the formula ford world has been inundated with people claimed stupid 40+bhp from the norm, just through bad rolling road results, after making simple changes to their builds.
it just goes to show, even in a sport where the engine is blueprinted (i.e not allowed to change the cam e.t.c) you still get massive variation in the RR results.
so who cares. why don't people just accept it.
the only way to tell is put two similar cars together on a track/1/4 mile e.t.c
whoever slates whoever, should stop giving shit over the internet, and actually put their money where their mouth is

i think rick's LET (whats left of it) is going to be way over 400bhp when its finally done. I guess he was comparing your 400bhp LET build to his and others that are way over that figure as 'Small fry'.
