View Full Version : rolling rear arches
i need to reduce the lip on me rear arches.
is there more than one way of doing this?and is there a particular tool for the job?i would rarther roll um than cut um.
any info apreciated.

Personally i'd say cutting'd be a better idea, rolling'll badly crack the paint. Get a grinder to em, go to the local motor factors, get an aerosol tin of underbody sealent and a tin of spray paint the same colour as your car, spray them with the sealent, give it a while and spray it with the paint andf touch it up as needed, but remember, mask it off and make sure everything's dry before spraying anything.
no no no..... I'd go for rolling over cutting - cutting will weaken the arch and is more likely to rust. If in doubt, get a bodyshop to do it - shouldn't cost more than ?50 max.
there is a specialist tool that can be used, it just bolts on to the hub, but i would get a body shop to do it personally

you cant use the specialist tool on novas as the back arches arent round ! - if your competant its not that hard - block of wood or something wrapped in kitchen towel on the outside and just hit the lip up with a hammer - knock it flush and seal for best results, if youre worried about the paint cracking, score along the bottom edge of the lip - it wont crack past the score - you can just touch up the bottom if you need to. you can also soften the paint with a heat gun(not too close) to make it more forgiving etc...
