want to have my head worked on, been reading and there are different types of head work. can you help me choose whats best and state why.
where can i have the work done
many thanx
What im running:
1.4 twin 40s
piper cam kit (Ultimate Road Cam Kit)
piper pully
etc etc
any help will be most help full.
What you want is an SRi Cylinder head, the valves are bigger, and the 1.4SR heads don't flow very well.
The 1300 heads aren't bad, but they havent got big enough valves.
I'm not very knowledgable about headwork, but start of with a decent cylinder head, SRi.
Benji on here got 8bhp just by adding a SRi head.

or u cud get a 1300 SR head n send it to bill blydestein, thats supposed 2 add around 15% more power
Wasn't there a post somewhere in this thread about which heads were the best (as std)?
yeah, certinly was, thread is in the technical guides. tunning the "1.4 8v engine" fink its called.
opt for the SRi head, better shaped ports, Round not square. cheaper than head work but, ultimatley not as good? just add Twin weber's at a later date.(funds permitting of course)
if you change to a sri head you will need a different inlet manifold. i got 12bhp from changing to a sri head. both run's were on the same rolling road.

if your going to be paying for head work then i would get the SRi head anyway
a worked sri head is gonna be better than a worked 1.3 or 1.2 head just as a std sri head is better than a 1.2 or 1.3 head

thanx people, will find my delf a sri head then, the webers are all ready on just the piper bits ant yet.
What way does the SRi head work as far as changing it to carbs, i'm not too framilier (spelling) with the set up? Whats involved in the process?
I got an SPi 1400 head with a race cam, solided lifters and had it ported and polished. Would i be better putting all that on an SRi head, or will it all fit?
Also, if i was to use the SRi head with 32/34's what inlet manifold should i use?

you'll prolly find that u cant find an inlet manifold to match the SRi head to a 32/34 as it has the same ports as the 1.6 GTE engine
why run that carb with a race cam and solid lifters? wouldnt it be beneficial to run 40's??
u might find a 1300 manifold will fit but you will defo need to add metal to the ports on the manifold as they wont line up properly
only mods required to fit the 40's to the sri head is you'll need to buy a 1600 inlet manifold for them
Twin 40's are hard to find over here and tend to be very expensive when you do find them. So the 1300 sr manifold'll not work right, any one that'll work better? You say the 1600 inlet, off which engine though?
