Not sure if i can make it yet, as the nova needs a new gear box and the evos clutch and shocks are well and trully on the way out

If i have the time to fix either of them you can count me in, really is a top day. If i cant fix them i will be down to cheer you all on  Oh and dave if you need any pointers on how to drive just give me a shout mate

08-01-05, 06:09 PM
can you take any passenger. what i mean is, does it have to be the same passenger through the day or can you take anyone round?

scott.parker
08-01-05, 06:22 PM
Well i guess you could try it,as i could of taken chris out in mine,as they didnt check affter the fist few runs to see the passengers wrist band,so if you feel cheeky yes :P lol

Nathan do what we did and take some sellotape and a pair of scissors and then you can use one rist band for everyone.

Though looking back at it now its not advisable because if anything did happen they would go to town on you. Best just paying the ?20 and being safe

nathan.

booked it today. Going in the Novice Class, a) because i never been on track before and b) to give my 1.3 a chance lol.

gotta get some better tyres put on before hand. Bridgestone B391's look quite good for the price.

nathan.
24-01-05, 11:50 PM
nice one mate. i think everyone goes in novice, well i have anyway.

benji
24-01-05, 11:55 PM
i will be in novice. i best book soon by the looks of thing's it will be busy.

i will also have my camera on all day. i can download the memory card to the ipod after every session so i can film all my track time.

nova_kev
25-01-05, 12:50 AM
will defo be there, but wont be on the track. not worth takin her on due to the fact its only running about 80bhp at the min.

will have the digi cam down tho so will take some pics and post on here 8)

NovaloadedAgain
25-01-05, 09:29 AM
Alright guys,

Do you think its worth takin mine?

Its only got just over 100bhp at the wheels.

Aragorn
25-01-05, 11:18 AM
imo its not really about the power

its about the experiance of driving your car fast on a decent stretch of tarmac

once i get my suspension n stuff sorted i wanna get myself on a trackday somewhere :)

Snowface
25-01-05, 11:38 AM
it says in the info booklet that you gotta get ur camera mounting checked by an official. is this true?

I'm gonna cellotape my tripod to my dash and bring mine. Its quite sturdy.

I'm payed up and booked in, but i'm seriously concerned about the 98db drive-by noise restriction as mine is stoopidly loud (induction not exhaust) anybody know where on the track they measure the noise (i.e position of mics)

Stuart
10-02-05, 09:04 AM
run it on filter socks for the day lol

i think CP got a telling off from some race track once ;)

Dar
10-02-05, 10:32 AM
I run TB's on mine and the induction noise is loud. I don't get a problem with drive by noise at Castle Combe but I do when it comes to running the car at days put on by motorsport events.

I've tryed all sorts of quick fixes for this and the best one I came up with was a cardboard box over the air filter. the box had a big hole all the way along it and looked really naff but it did take the harsh rasp out if the induction note (Still wasn't good enough for the people at motorsport events though).

I am currently having a cold air box made up that will fit on the same back plate as the air filter. So that I can either run the air filter or the cold air box (with another filter). Hopefully that will cure the problem.

Its a real PITA when you pay for a day and then your not allowed to run due to drive by noise. They won't give you your dosh back either.

benji
10-02-05, 04:26 PM
they are pretty easy going at donington, and if you are flagged for noise they will do their best to get you back on track. one of the boxes is at about half way up the main straight, this is pointed out to you at the briefing

Powelly5624
11-02-05, 03:36 PM
Do you have to book tickets or can you just pay on the day? I fancy coming up to see a few Novas in action. Also what time does it start?

Chris
11-02-05, 03:39 PM
It is free to watch, but if you want to run then it is advisable to pre-book as they fill up rather quick (and its ?10 cheaper)

Chris

Powelly5624
15-02-05, 04:29 PM
Thanks for the info Chris, what time are you lot going up then?

My Nova's still being built so don't fancy ripping around the track in my Rover Bubble thats on stilts!

Chris
15-02-05, 05:45 PM
If you are only watching then there is no point getting there before 9am in all honestly, unless you want to have a natter first as people get rather busy during the day

Chris

benji
15-02-05, 07:11 PM
are you coming to mine again chris?
