Alright I want the kit where I can open the doors without having to use the handle, and I can't find it anywhere

Can anyone shed any light on this????

use escort boot release's and hook them up to your alarm so that when you press the button to unlock the doors it pops them open instead, you could get an actual kit for the boot release but they are all the same as escort ones just a different colour of casing! hope this helps you out a bit!

you can use any solenoid, they are all pretty much the same. The boot ones tend to be a little stronger though.

If you use any solenoid (apparently Clifford ones are the best but at ?50 I am not sure - I used ?7 Maplin ones which were fine) Link it to the inside, at the bottom part of the door release linkage. It puts less stress on the solenoid here, rather than anywhere else.

Doing this looks great and it easy to do... However, Your car wont got through MOT without handles and if the police see it you WILL get pulled! I did the same thing to my old Nova and i was orderd to get handles so it was a waste of time and cash in the end! Take my advise or find out for your self my Nova friend 8)

Keep Novaloading!

to get it threw the MOT just use a piece of old seat belt!!! what you do is the day of you MOT take your door card off and attach a piece of seat belt to the door release mechanism somehow, you then feed the other end up between the window rubber and the glass (outside). this way you now have a mechanical way of opening your door!! then once its passed the test take it off again

Just wire in a hidden switch somewhere to open the drivers door = MOT pass 8)

Passenger side doesn't require a handle, but as long as there is some way to open the drivers door it should be ok - MOT Guide (http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_620.htm) merely states as long as the mechanism to open the door works its ok; doesn't specify mechanical, electrical etc. Seems a little vague to me to be honest.

i always thought it had to have a mechanical link for in the event of an accident an electronic link could be broken

I quite like the sound of both of them,

I definately going to dehandle the passenger side and i was thinkin maybe wiring up a hidden button somewhere to open the door

...underneath or something not quite worked it out yet....

most people put the hidden button under the mirror

Trouble is with that is "most ppl" will know where to look!!!

yes but if you still have the central locking then even if they press the button it wont open cos the door will be locked still

bollocks. How do the new TVRs pass if they come out of the factory with only electronic ways of opening the door

Exactly... Like when the door is locked and you try opening the handle, it won't work.

i was told, that there must be ONE way off getting into your car mechanically* e.g if u got no locks or handels your boot must be standard. but what do i know...

Now this sounds good! because aside from debadging it i've kept my boot standard and it still has mechanical locking and opening etc....

Does anyone have a legal quotefrom a handbook or anything please? :multi:

See the link I posted before from the MOT guide on MOTuk.co.uk (http://www.motuk.co.uk). Its a bit vague, but has no mention of whether the opening mechanism has to be mechanical or what.
