I lifted the bonnet on my 1991 1.0 Litre Nova and found a lot of oil around the top of the rocker cover, and down the side. No problems with the engine like excessive smoke, just the leak. Anybody know what its from and how to fix it?? Cheers

If its on top of the engine-and I would of thought quite obvious, is check the oil cap seal. The old rubber gives up after a few years, otherwise its got to be the cam cover gasket. Proverbial piece of to deal with. Get the good old haynes manual and you wont go too far wrong.

Theres some around the oil cap, but its also all the way round it.

Im gonna guess its the Rocker cover gasket! Theres oil all the way round and cant see any existing sign of 1 there. Been quoted ?2 for a new 1 cant be bad.

if the oil is below the line of the rocker gasket but not above it ten its the rocker gasket

if its all over the top of the rocker cover then its more likely to be the oil cap
