I actually too would have gone for EVO even though they look a bit chunky. I preffer EVO looks rather then Subaru, in my oppinion WRX and all others produced by Subaru are just plain ugly...

again evo i am affraid.
i really used to like the scoobie, but they are more common then saxo's.

so the individual look is long gone.
(before you sy it, there aint that many well looked after nova's no more, so thats why i still have mine)

infact anyspec evo 8 is better than the current scooby.

it handels better, its a tad cheaper to fix as the engine isnt freaky lol

my mate has a uk spex sti wrx and its just soooooo dull and boring. it only feels afst when he brakes. so its dull.

EVO 3's are V nice too

Dave

yeah but in my nova that cost not a lot, beating a 20+ grand car is very rewarding.
Plus scoobies are a chav car now anyway

31-12-04, 04:09 PM

evo mr fq 400. nice

jkhilton
31-12-04, 07:08 PM
there's not much point in the MR FQ400, it's ?47k. You can buy an MR FQ340 and put alot less than the difference between the 2 into the engine and end up with more than 405bhp anyway.

Obviously I'd choose an Evo :)

John

31-12-04, 07:33 PM
but will it have a 3 year warrenty still?

jkhilton
31-12-04, 08:25 PM
Probably not unless you go for approved upgrades or get the work done at one of the main dealers, but even then it wont cost you ?47k for an FQ340 and the mods to get 400bhp, so the money you save would cover the difference if anything was to go wrong with the car. Also the resale value of the FQ400 will be terrible, they'll probably drop 10k in the first year of ownership.

Yeah i agree with Philsutton!! Good one mate!

Lol at people choosing a nova over an evo, your living on a different planet.

And Evo everytime for me, I only like the 22b and p1 of the classic shape, the new ones look pap

im not keen on evos id get a p1 or a wr1 as they both look gr8 or failing that id go old school and get a nice escort cosworth

I'd go for the Evo too... My sister had a STi WRX for a while, I didn't like it that much. Sure it was fun to drive - but it "felt" as big as it looked.

But I'd choose Nissan over either of them.

I test drove loads of imprezas and evo's when I was looking for one, the Evo feels much bigger than the Impreza, but neither feel particularly small to be honest. The Evo just felt faster and easier to throw around.

by Nissan, do you mean the Skyline or the sunny GTi-R? I'd love a Skyline, but the insurance is immense, even compared to my Evo, also the running costs of a skyline are massive.

Jack
06-01-05, 03:50 PM
Yep, I was thinking of the Skylines... One of my options at the moment is a 200sx (working up to the Skyline when I can afford it... when I'm 40 lol). The 200 is a fair bit cheaper to run than the Skyline too, know a few people with them.

TBH I'd have liked a chance to drive an Evo too, just to compare it to my sisters old WRX. Don't think the local Mitsuibishi garage would have let me tho

Out of the these two cars I would say that the EVO was better, not from experience but from reviews etc.

However I would have a Scooby to own. The reason for this is that the EVO has a 4,500 service interval :o and that would put me right off owning one. Not unless I actually had the money to keep servicing the thing.

So in the end it comes down to money for me and thats why I have a Nova :D for fun and a nice normal car for the road.

Plus Philsutton hit the nail right on the head, its loads more fun passing cars like that in a Nova!

Although I haven't been up against a EVO yet.

I have driven both of the cars in question, well sort of, EVO VI and a Scoob Turbo. Straight away the EVO has more power than what the Impreza did, but the Impreza has so much torque. It wasnt as quick top end or through the gears. The only 2 things which would put me off an EVO is the quality of the clutch and the servicing costs to be done by the Ralliart dealer. The scoobie was much nicer to drive around but the EVO is an all out drivers car. If I had one I would be banned, driving on the motorway at around 80ish, it is just starting to spool up, put the foot down and you are doing 'license losing' speeds in seconds.

evo all the way

but the servicing is too expensive so it'll remain a dream for a long time

i'd get a stock one and get norris to make it 400ponies would be cheaper surely?

My choice would have to be the evo, having driven both of the 2 cars mentioned the evo feels so much more of a package. The evo handling is superior in my opinion. Plus its not as common, though i think that is soon going to change with the introduction of the 260.

As for the fq400, the kind of person that is going to buy one probably wont be bothered by the amount of money they will lose on resale. They are only making 100 so i can imagine it will become a collectors car in years to come. Though i wouldnt buy one lol, i would tune my 6 up to a much more useable 400 BHP. I am just about to get an exhaust and filter for it, 400 brake here we come!
