just a quicky.. did vauxhall/opel ever do a 2.2 litre 8 valve lump..? was it not fitted to late mantas? or is it the frontera that had it? not goin into any novas; im thinkin viva/kadett c/ascona with t45 2.2 8v using manta gte box and bits..

there was a 2.4 CIH frontera engine which was similar to the old manta/chevette hs engines

its not the same series as the 2.0 8v SEH lump

yeah, i was thinking along those lines too; i think they might have put it in carltons or something, but its not a very performance orientated lump so maybe not worth bothering with anyway.

the 2.2 frontera lump can be used with the 8v head, good for an extra few horses

i had heard of bonnet clearance issues with using the longer stroke 2.2 block in novas/astras etc

dunno if they are true tho

could be true as mine is very close to the bonnet as it is,

i think you just have to use the 16v engine mount kit or lower the engine mount on the car, i just ovalised the wholes on the mount and put spacers on the front mount before lifting it up into the car, worked a treat
