as said i am using avo coilovers, very easy to fit and from what i can tell all in all a good kit. I have driven it briefly and the car is far more responsive now although i did have to stiffn up the front and rears abit as on 'soft' it was to soft lol, but the ride has improved since stiffening it up abit.

The backend has miles to go if i so choose but that would ruin the car completley, the fronts have a small bit left but tbh they are fine for me and for the sake of a few notes i would just get some shorter springs if i so wished, or advise anyone getting them to do this upon purchase to save the hassle afterwards.

I wanted it set a tad higher at the back compared to the front which is what i have acheived, although it doesnt look this way as i only run 195/45/15 tyres, but it is.

Speaking to those that have had problems with them in the past it appears that they have been ironed out from what i can tell.

too soft on soft?? you must be used to it quite hard, lol

You've got to love coilovers!!!

Yeah I had the same problem, after fitting the fronts they just don't go low enough on the springs that come with the kit (around 60-65mm I'd say). Where as the rears will easily allow you to do 100mm! But it was only ?28 for some new shorter springs from Avo.

Nice one Dan, quick question.... Are you fitting the GTE bumpers on this one?

looking much better!

I'm sure when my mate fitted some avo's, it said on a leaflet to run them on soft for a few hundred miles to 'run them in'...

just a guess - but wouldnt GTE bumpers be heavier, and thus defeeat the object of the week of hard labour

fiberglass one wouldn't be heavier

Dan wouldnt know...he lost the fitting instructions after unpacking them for the third time before putting them on the car, lol :P

He's not bothering with Gte bumpers. This car is built to be driven. I'm looking forward to seeing this on the track, it should do really well with the new set up.

Looks a lot better - just some tweaks on the suspension and watch out track dayers!

looks much better dan, nice amount lower, just right not to low for what you need,as you need some roll left to tell where the brake point is

lol the first pic looks like what mine was like
i found out why when i took the koni springs off

My original GSI springs on the left.. and the koni ones on the right, the konis are ment to be 35mm lower..

Looks more like 35mm higher

Oh well its lower now on some 60mm spax. still need to fit the front coilovers yet..

Prior to the coilovers and with the GTE shell the suspension setup was ideal. After the reshell and the loss of a lot more weight, ride height was back to 1.2 levels (or near enough) using the same or lower components; this was not suitable.

I've been out today for a more thorough test drive with the new low coilover setup with a slightly stiffer setting engaged to see how it goes, and the improvement is massive. At the front end the toe adjustments have made turn in far more responsive and compliments the LSD. Feedback through the steering has also improved; no particular area is drastically better but the whole package has been improved across the board meaning faster lap times and a better driving experience is possible.

Before the reshell, coilovers and overall upgrades the car was top rate as confirmed by others. Chris/CP and others advised these changes sooner but the car was and still is under continuous development and rolling out all the changes at once wasn't possible. Buying and trying different brands of products (even if it means buying several components over and over again) has enabled me to fine tune the whole car and get it how I want it, but also allowed me to gain a small bit of knowledge and insight on how each seperate setup worked and various ways the car would behave.

i am just enquiring about when you fitted your coilovers to the back of your car, when you jack it up does the shock hit the car and tyre?

thanks :thumb:
