Fan belt/valves

How can i stop my fan belt going SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEK on my 1.0 nova and how can i stop the valves being so noisey, tick tick tick tick tick tick no wonder its been called tick over not just idle its so annoying.

Any help please?

ur belts goin squeek cause u need to replace as most of the rubber onit as gone

The belt is most probably loose so i would try tightening it first, if it still squeals then its time for a new one,

Tappets will need re-setting with a feeler gauge, only the 1.0 has manual adjusters all the other engined use hydraulic tappets (self setting useing oil pressure)

Ill try and do the fan belt now.

Also the tappits i thought that was the problem as ive seen on wheeler dealer (i think it was) him adjusting them on some old car so ill try to remeber how and give it a got. Its not too hard is it?

I checked the oil and theres hardly none in there oops!

What oil do i need as weve got a lot laying round but not for 1.0 novas ;)
