Nick

General Baxter
26-12-04, 05:18 PM
yeah, and when it DOES get going it pops and bangs (like its backfiring)

Nick
26-12-04, 05:23 PM
right i understand you now, for a minute i thought you meant it was jolting whilst driving , hence why i suggested fuel pump.

and when you mean jolt, do you mean the car jolts, as in tries to drive (as if it were in gear) or just the engine splutter/jolts ?

General Baxter

its like, when you try and start it in gear, buy only the engine moves,

they car does not move at all

My dads car does a similar thing, like the starter motor is jamming up. When it finally starts the engine jolts as if a mount is loose of summit. And it also gives some mega back firing noise, and if you blip the throttle quickly it jolts and back fires, gets worse as the engine warms up though.

yes i'd agree it sounds like something is seized/seizing

i really don't know what it could be tho.. sorry

General Baxter

Well if was alright before you took the leads off, then its summit do with that. Are they all on proper, try some DP60(thats cheap WD40)
maybe damp on the plugs and leads.

right just been out to it

been on charge since 4pm

started first time with a little throttle
it starts to 'chug' out the zorst

i turn it off

got to start it back up. does 1 little jolt and starts up agian, but still chugs!

ummm

when it overfuels/ floods it does that...

get a small blowtorch, or alternativly a fag lighter.. :|

and heat the end of the spark plugs up with that, it should burn off an fuel/stuff you may have got on them.

that's all i can suggest sorry !

probably wont work (but if it's that it should clear them up)

nar it only back fires when it feels like it

sometimes every seconds or every 10mins :?

Gunzi

I'd say it sounds like a fuelling problem, if its backfiring then unburnt fuel is passing down the exhaust system and it ignites in there hence the bang

BTW not seen the vid as only have dial up where I am at the mo'!

Check the HT leads are in the correct place again, you'd be kicking yourself if that was the problem!

General Baxter
27-12-04, 08:33 PM
have made the vid smaller to 800kbs or something like that :)

Gunzi

Fucking dial up, won't d/l the file properly! Windows Media Player throws an epi and then critial errors itself, now the file is no where 2 be found!

Still try it with less choke and try driving it as soon as it starts to run, don't let it sit there ideling, thats all I can think of!

Good Luck!

mine makes the same "pattering" noise from the exhaust, it's just the cold weather i think...

1.3SR diesel

General Baxter

General Baxter

Nick
27-12-04, 09:43 PM
hey don't knock it...  that'd be rapid :|

my dad has a 0.425 L citroen dyane !

you may laugh, but you'd be astonished to know how much it's worth.

thats rough as a badgers arse son !!

pull the plug leads off one at a time with the engine running (and replace it before pulling the next one)

you'll prolly find removing one of the leads makes no difference to the running and that means that cylinder isnt firing

i'd also stick some 10w40 oil in there and try n get those lifters cleaned up

is your oil golden or black? if its black it needs changed
