Phone around or net search?

Has anyone tried both ways of searching for insurance? if so which way gives you best cover and cheapest premiums?

either way doesnt make much difference. most companies offer a small discount for buying online though - 5-10% usually.

I'd say depends on the company, but with some (HIC and Flux) I've managed to wangle lower premiums and extras by phoning and saying "x company offered me this at whatever price, can you beat it?". But as *cough* santa said, net quotes are often a little cheaper anyway.
