Both limited to 155mph but 328 gets there slightly quicker.

or a 635csi!!!
I would much rather have a E30 than a E36!! 36 is ugly unless its a M3. and you could pick up a mint condition E30 for price of a ok E36. A nice 325i touring would do nicely!! Or a 320is great engine (190bhp) shame its rare and only in a left hooker.

i had the an old 316, it was utter shite. It used to get dusted by 1.1 fiestas at the lights. Only cost me just over 100 for it though, but it did end up catching fire :o
What year/engine are you looking at?

thank you just what i needed
why a bmw !?
i could think of alot more cars that are less expensive to run/insure/repair that probably "pull" stuff just as well, and are cheaper to buy.
328's are slower than the 325's due to a more restricted inlet manifold. With a few tweaks you'll see more hp on the 328 though. The one to go for is the 328i Sport if you have the money..
http://www.e36coupe.co.uk is one of the most helpful sites I've come across with a large member base..
Bare in mind the 328's also had the Nikasil block issue, stay away from the ones with them..

whats the prob with the blocks. dont tell me they chuck rods
pre mid 1998 blocks had problems which can lead to them failing.
i wont bore you with the details- nikasil ones with main dealer FSH still get replaced by bmw free of charge even to this day.
best to buy a late alusil engined one really- although the problem is reflected in the price.
p.s- breeny is right- dont touch a 328i.... make sure it is a 328i sport.
