Farting

Alrite guys.

I got a 1.4 nova with an ashley backbox. When i fitted it it sounded well crisp, but now when i rev it and release the accelerator it sounds like its farting. Ive checked to see if its blowing and i dont think it is. Its annoying, ive only had the box 2 months.... Help

lol how do you mean farting? sounds like its blowing is it stainless?

Nah it aint stainless. Its a hard sound to explain, its like air is escaping... , but when the revs drop it just makes the nasty noise. Also, do you need the springs that connect the downpipe to the middle section? as mine are vibrating and making a terrible noise at times and i wanna take them out and just bolt the parts together...

you mean popping?
only does it when you lift off, maybe once or twice then it wont do it again till you lift off again?

mine does that aswell, 1200 with an ashley straight through, and my brothers does it 1600 16v with an ashley system aswell

the spings force the two sections together, so id say they are needed yes...

DO NOT remove the springs from the bolts! :o

they allow the exhaust system to move about a little when the engine move's as u accelrte/de-celerate.

if the springs are actually done up they cant vibrate??

more likely the system rattling off the handbrake cable or the exhaust tunnel

how old is your exhaust ? it might have rusted through, my ashley pops too :D
