changing dash

can anyone give me details of how hard and how long it is to change a mk1 dash to a mk2 dash? what problems i might get if any? cheers people.

Most people on here can do it in an afternoon, but depends how confident you are. I took my time and did it in a weekend. Most of it is straightforward, the hardest bits are clipping in the heater control wires, and the blower/heated window plug, as these changed round from Mk1-Mk2 - the rest of it is pretty much swap wires like for like. I used the guide on Nova-Land (http://wwww.nova-land.com) when I did mine, came in quite handy!

there shorting out some where

i turn them on, nothing happends and the volt gauge drops to 8v and the engine splutters!
